Judgment Commentary! | Nekomonogatari: White | Episode 2 "Tsubasa Tiger, Part 2"

A comment I stole from Reddit - -Oshino outright said in Bake that the meddlecat situation is basically an extreme case of multiple personality disorder. -Cats in Japan are synonymous with good fortune. They're also synonymous with lies and hypocrisy. Make of that what you will. -"Hanekawa doesn't know something?" --> White lies of ignorance. Hanekawa said at the beginning of the arc that she is a cat, a tiger, and a human. -I don't think Hanekawa recently had no taste. That's no lie. I suspect Hanekawa had no taste all her life, or at least ever since she started living with her not-family.

Well, I'd say the point of the shower scene is exactly to show us that they are good and close friends. Since we've been seeing the stories up to this point exclusively through Araragi's eyes we didn't get any shots of other characters interacting without him around. We've got glimpses of said interactions sometimes, but we wouldn't know how their relationships translate. We knew from Nise that Hanekawa and Senjou have been interacting, but didn't see much of it; similarly, Kanbaru and Karen met, but we don't know what happened after, or if they even keep in touch now; Nadeko and Tsukihi are childhood friends, but also haven't shared a single scene, etc... Scenes like the shower help us undestand their standings in the story. Despite how it seems, the world doesn't revolve around Araragi, and it continues to change even when he is not involved. And now just a nice piece of trivia, since you seem to be intrigued by the wings imagery in the last frames of the opening: "Hanekawa" and "Tsubasa" are both names that mean "Wing", because of this throughout the books she is often referred by Araragi as being a "girl with a mismatched pair of wings". Soaring high through the skies, unreachable, but never in balance.
