With Mayoi's backpack and Nadeko's closet we now have two mysterious containers which shouldn't be opened by Koyomi, Also about the rice thing, Rice is one of the traditional defenses against Jiangshi in legends. If you throw blessed rice or coins they supposedly stop to pick them up and count them.
I might be wrong but I think that Oshino put up the other charm in order to force Koyomi and Shinobu to confront alt Shinobu if they want to go back. Otori (next arc) is my favorite arc in Monogatari so I'm really excited that you're finally there :D

Jiangshi are also called hopping vampires, so Isin probably just thought "hm, what to call the zombies of vampires? Well, let's use an ambiguous term then!".
One thing I always assumed when talking about the people that will be turned back from being the failures, is that Hanekawa wouldn't be one of the lucky ones. Based on what we get from Shinobu's personality and how she views Hanekawa after the events of Kizu and Neko Kuro, I like to imagine she completely murdered her. Not leaving it only at making a minion out of her, but ate her in her entirety, like she did to Guillotine Cutter. Even during Bake, in the "real" timeline, Araragi had to ask Shinobu to stop sucking Hanekawa after the cat was gone, otherwise she would have killed her.
Now we got part of what Arararagi was doing during the Neko Shiro events. We can see Kabuki ends at the same time Neko Shiro starts, as Hanekawa goes to the first day of school after holidays and Hitagi and her make comments on how Araragi is stupid and skipped the start of a new semester (as he woke up back in his timeline and immediately saw that it was the 21st of August and that he had already missed the ceremony).
Next arc cements Nadeko's character and has one of my top 3 voice acting moments in the entire series, so I'm excited to see you start it!

Hopefully you keep following the novel order, while Shaft was making Monogatari Second Season they had to cut Hanamonogatari due to time constraints. Hanamonogatari was released later, but the original novels still have it after Kabiki so I'd advise watching that next. Some say that it's not important, but I'm on the side that agrees it's important to watch to see the intended development for a certain character. Especially considering that Nadeko Medusa is quite a turning point for the series. Btw the arc for Hana is called Suruga Devil. Have a nice night!
