why do I feel like this show blew it's whole budget on animating the piano ghost?

2022-01-03 04:24:19 +0000 UTCAs a kid I found it a pretty interesting show. It had some genuinely creepy imagery, but still just creepy enough so a child could watch, like Courage the Cowardly Dog. One episode especifically got stuck in my mind for years and still is the first thing that comes to my mind whenever I remember the anime, the Sanzu River one, which made me rewatch the series in 2015 (I think) and it was fine, I didn't think it was particularly bad. The original movie, which the anime is based of, did pretty well in Japan, it sold better than Ringu, so the hate might have been a bit bigger because of the disappointment with a not that great of an anime adaptation.
