We all need heroes, and good stories, someone to look up to in the moment of our own troubles and shortcomings, and think "What would she do? She wouldn't give up or feel scared, I'm sure, for no challenge is too great" - and she feels like a hero. It's the first thing that came to my mind, when I saw how much care and feelings the artist had put into drawings with her. I'd be happy to draw like this too.
