That’s where I saw him.
Massive. Armored in bone-fused chitin. Six limbs. A crown of jagged horns. A face like a predatory skull. His blade — part bone, part steel, part unknown.
Locals once called him the King of the Great Harvest. He doesn’t conquer. He reaps. Whole ecosystems, civilizations, gone. A throne of corpses, an empire of silence.
But he’s not mindless. There’s intelligence behind that gaze.
He just moved.
He’s looking at me. Through the drone. Through me.
And he’s smiling.
He noticed me, but I think it will be fine. Rational beings can always find a way to communicate...
