Venture into the Wilds - October Preview #2

All feathered and spiteful, the next community preview is swooping down today to reveal the second wave of good stuff coming this October. The Wilds Part 3 will be joining the scaled creeps coming in the Sekhaton Tribe

Plus, we’ll be revealing the winner of the last round of community voting!

Read on to find out more -

The Wilds Part 3

Each Wilds release has aimed to capture a specific habitat or vignette of the sundered world of Doaden. For Part 3, we started with the vision of an arid canyon, or gulch, on the borders of the Akhaemian desert, and began to populate from there.

Harpies

Twisted avian humanoids, the harpy is supremely unpleasant to behold, a warped and horrific corruption of the feminine aspect. Screeching and flapping, they’re primed to swoop down and harry an exhausted adventuring party.

Harpy Broodpenne

Guardian of the nest, the Broodpenne is larger and stronger than the lesser kindred. Capable of unleashing a piercing cry at the first sign of danger, the sheer loudness is capable of stopping a person in their tracks.

Harpy Margravine

Mother of the flock, Queen of the Desert Wind, the Margravine is the ruler of all Harpydom. Smarter than her kin, though no less capable of violence, one would do well to entreat with her, rather than seek her ire.

The Vilefang Basilisk

A foul smelling apex predator, oozing a toxic miasma built up from centuries spent living amongst the heaving piles of Guano made by the Harpy Flock. Serpentine and spined, the beast is feared by even the most grizzled ranger.

November Vote - A winner emerges!

Lastly, we’re pleased to announce the winner of the last round of community voting, Mycena Mortifera Part 2 - which will be arriving in November, alongside Folk of the Realm! It was looking like Knights of the Beast would be the winner for a while, but the mushrooms took a late lead, and maintained it for the rest of the week - thanks to everyone who voted!

Let us know what you’d like to see in this second collection - there’s a good chance your suggestions will make it into the release!

That’s all for today folks, hope you’re looking forward to October’s drops as much as we are, happy hobbying!

Cheers,

Bestiarum Crew

Love this idea! Spore-spreading is definitely gonna be a key part of the next set ;)

Alexei Popovici

Also, absolutely love this coming month's designs. At this point I think it's undeniable that a hardcover art book of Bestiarum concepts would be a sure-fire hit!

Convincing_Reality

Spore Stalkers Stripped of their humanity, these grotesque abominations are one potential final stage of the infection, in which the parasitic organism has repurposed its host entirely as a vehicle for biological imperative. With a semi-upright posture and a lolling head locked in a deathly grimace, the host’s remaining organs are warped to better aid their bloated abdomens in serving as incubators for a densely packed payload of spores and the fragmented bones of previous victims. Their arms, once used for hunting in earlier stages of the infection, are devoured under the parasite’s control, their lost efficiency now making them more beneficial as biomass for the relentless growth of fungal mass. They scurry out in the dead of night on twisted, spider-like fungal appendages that have haphazardly ruptured from their pelvis, as the host’s original legs can no longer bear the bloated weight. Driven by a singular purpose, they seek out populated areas. Upon reaching their targets, they pause momentarily, limbs twitching as if readying themselves, and then violently detonate, releasing a cloud of spores. The ensuing chaos, fear, and frantic, panicked breaths of fleeing victims only accelerate the infection's spread, ensuring maximum contamination amid the confusion.

Some ideas for next Mycena Mortifera: - Some rotten knights - fused with the horses (disgusting xO), but still looking like a high mobility knight? - Transfigured wild animals (possibly also fused?), bears, wolves - Some individuals that are mid transformation process, so still a bit conscious, but suffering from the inevitable transformation? Am I a bad person?

I know the ancient mayans had rituals with mushrooms and had cool stone carvings of little mushroom guys. Would be cool to have some mushroom priest hero

Gengar

Wow those harpies and basilisk look incredible 😱 I was just thinking about harpies the other day.

Gengar

Hoping we still get Knights of the Beast 2 in the future.
