I Watched *A Little Princess* (1995) For The First Time

There is also a version from 1986 that I grew up watching. The father passes in that one, too! I'll be watching the Shirley Temple version next! My older sister loves that one, but I haven't seen it yet. I watched the 1986 one over and over with my younger sister! This one was great! I definitely wasn't expecting the dad to still be alive!

I grew up watching the 1986 version of this movie! Although most of the movie was the same, in that version, the dad did pass away. He thought he had lost all of his money investing in his friend's venture of a diamond mine. After his death, the friend had to find Sara. He was the one staying in the house next door to the school. He had people searching all over Europe for her, but they found her just next door! The mine ended up giving them more money than they could ever need. I've been wanting to see this version, so glad I finally did! Great reaction!

Just think: this school was being run out of somebody's house. It's like a brownstone mansion, but you would never think of mansions being this narrow.

I understand that you want to give credit, but it has the effect of making some viewers appear to be more important than others as people, and then it becomes a socioeconomic thing. I can't even remember how long ago I suggested this film, and there was so much frustration with the poll and the choice of its opponents, and even after it came close several times, you wouldn't even look at it until people got together and quartered the cost of a paid suggestion. Besides, those patron credit lists can be pretty obstructive.

"Every kind of muffin God ever made!" I love that line so much!

It's like this is the quintessential chick flick.

I have a tradition of watching this on St. Patrick's Day every year. I showed it to my mom a few months ago; she's a big fan of the Shirley Temple version, and came away from this one liking it.

This film is based on a book where the father does die. There's also a film version starring Shirley Temple, but you may not enjoy it as much since it's so much older and takes place in Britain during the Boer War. There was also a rendition of this on VeggieTales which, to my great surprise, was actually truest to the text. I kind of tripped over it during Saturday morning cartoons.
