Gamer System in Campione - Chapter 8
Added 2021-11-08 03:30:11 +0000 UTCAfter all, it was Pandora who used her power to select the Authorities of the Gods that the Campiones would use.
But Ozymandias couldn't afford it now, especially since he knew there was one more Heretic God in the region.
But this moment was something that someone was waiting for.
Before Ozymandias could react, a large golden net fell over him and snagged his body.
"Hoh, looks like I got a Godslayer" A husky male voice said mockingly and looking up through the golden net that covered him, he saw a large man dressed in ancient Roman clothing, holding a large hammer in one of his overly muscled arms.
The moment his eyes fell on the Heretic God he recognized him.
"Hephaestus," said Ozymandias, narrowing his eyes.
That Heretic God was Hephaestus the Greek God of forges, fire, technology, artisans, sculptors, volcanoes and blacksmiths. Son of Zeus and Hera, with his Roman counterpart being Vulcan.
"I'm going to be Vulcan in this land, but yes, that's my name too" The god smiled, "How does it feel, Godslayer, to be tied up?" he scoffed.
"...You were watching." Ozymandias' eyes narrowed.
"Yes. So I know attacking you directly is pointless. But indirectly is another matter. You seemed to have trouble with the idea of drowning in water, so let's see if you react the same way to drowning in lava, huh? " Vulcan suggested cruelly while his hammer was on fire.
The Sun King's eyes widened in shock and surprise.
"Are you making a volcano? Here?" Campione exclaimed: "Thousands will die!"
"So what? This is where my temple was, after all." Vulcan shrugged.
Ozymandias narrowed his eyes as his power increased and he tried to burn the Golden Net with his flames.
But not even a scratch was made on them.
"It's useless. My Golden Grid won't allow you to escape. Though it cannot suppress divine power like its chains, nothing can escape it. It also prevents you from summoning your Authorities outside your bounds, so don't bother asking for your chains of the heaven" Vulcan smiled at his efforts.
"And even? So I'll have to take it more seriously," said Ozymandias with a huge smile on his face.
Ozymandias understood his left hand as a glow came over it.
"Come to me, my glorious spear, the mighty spear that pierced the tree of the world for nine days and nine nights, that will always hit the target with unerring precision, seize the hearts of my enemies!" Ozymandias recited his Authority's incantation loud and clear.
A declaration to Heaven, to all who were his enemies.
Materializing in the Sun King's left hand was an indestructible blood-red spear with a three-pointed spearhead and runes etched across it.
The moment Hephaestus's eyes fell on the spear he felt a shiver go through his body.
It seemed that no matter what defense or strategy he imparted, that spear would surely hit him.
It was the inherent fear created from the recognition.
As the Blacksmith God it would be impossible for him not to recognize such a weapon.
The legendary spear that would never miss its target, the death sentence of the oldest Norse God, the mighty spear of the one-eyed God of War.
"D-damn that spear..."
Hephaestus's voice of fear was cut off when a single voice announced not just the name of the legendary weapon.
But also the death sentence for all those who stood in the way of his blade.
"Gungnir!"
With the speed that surpasses lightning, worthy of a weapon of such caliber, it crossed the distance in less than a millisecond as it drove right into Hephaestus's chest.
"Damn you" Vulcan gurgled as he dropped to his knees, blood pouring from his mouth.
Ozymandias stood up smiling, the net that held him disappeared, probably could only be maintained if Vulcan had enough concentration.
"What's it? Where's all that confidence?" asked Ozymandias mockingly.
Although he was mildly surprised to see Vulcan survive his Authority, the Golden Net had probably prevented him from summoning his Authority in its true power.
"Damn you, the God you killed was Odin!" Vulcan shouted as he struggled to his feet.
Ozymandias only smiled, the Heretic God Odin was one he had killed and usurped in the past.
Three years ago the Heretic God Odin had arisen in Norway and started a massive battle with another Heretic God, and they both seemed to know and hate each other, in the midst of the battle two other Heretic Gods emerged attracted by the magnitude of the confrontation and one of them used his Authority to summon another two Heretic Gods and they all started a gigantic battle.
Ozymandias even knowing the Heretic Gods didn't get involved in the fight, he wasn't crazy to meddle in a fight of such a scale and he also knew that he couldn't survive if those Heretic Gods all took him as a target.
So both of them were very weakened by the battle Ozymandias attacked using all his power to kill them, Odin had been the first to fall and soon the others were also killed by him.
From Odin he had acquired five Authorities, and Gungnir was among them.
"What does it matter to someone dead?" asked Ozymandias mockingly.
"Did you think…" Vulcan began as he struggled to stay upright, "That a single wound will finish me? I've forged countless 'weapons. I know how to handle your powers!" screamed Vulcan as his hammer exploded into extremely hot flames.
"How arrogant," said Ozymandias, pointing his staff at Vulcan.
As the Scepter of Ra was her divine symbol she was a weapon of great power, capable of channeling the power of the Sun through her and letting her wielder use in any way she pleases, an extremely flexible Authority that depending on her wielder's imagination for her to display its real power.
Solar energy accumulated at the tip of the scepter and shot out like a bolt that burned the earth, incinerating everything in its path until there was nothing left.
When the power disappeared it was revealed that there was nothing left of Vulcan, the Heretic God had been completely incinerated.
Seeing his battle being ended, Ozymandias sighed, this battle had been more boring than tiring.
Disabling his Authorities, Ozymandias decided to get out of there right away, after all from what he remembered, Vulcan had been killed by the Sixth Campione, Lord Salvatore Doni in the cannon.
So the "King of Swords" would probably be around.
Ozymandias decided to go straight to the airport to take a flight to England as his business had now been closed in Rome.
Maybe that way he could talk to Pandora and discover his new Authorities.
Ozymandias hoped that at least his next enemies would be more interesting.
