Teeny tiny creatures

I got gifted a mouse and a half the other week! I LOVE having friends that don't get grossed out by what you do ~ but the other real treasure is the ones that do get creeped out, but still bring you lil wild dead gifts anyway, even if accompanied with grimacing faces! π₯°
I claimed the six lil paws + one tail that still remained on these lil dudes and those are currently curing in the salt ~ yet I'm trying out a new method I've not attempted before to get the bones!
So apparently oxidization is a thing you can do for critters this small? Usually to gather bones from fresh things, I'm either lazy and bury out in the woods (and usually forget) orrrr I skin/gut/deflesh as much as possible and macerate. Both techniques I'll document whilst on my learning journeys here v soon! But I'm told that for teeny tiny creatures like these, you can remove as much as possible and leave them in low percentage hydrogen peroxide instead as a quicker alternative? So I'm giving that a go!
One of the mice was quite easy to work with, he had essentially mummified in the heat so removing the skin was just like tearing furry paper! Bizzare. And just scooping out as much of the dried up crispiness inside as possible. Haha. The other one though, not so easy. And I'm impatient! So I got as much as possible off and gave up relatively quickly, telling myself it's fine as it'll be an interesting comparison when I check back in a week or so to see how the process works on both of them in their different states π
+ This was actually on Monday, so tomorrow it'll be seven days later and I shall have a lil looksee at how they're doing and hopefully be able to scrape off more flesh and get them further down to the skeletons!
