Fur of the fox
Added 2025-04-16 20:11:28 +0000 UTCSo this was a massive rush job last summer when we tackled the freezer and had a looooad of little critters to process in practically one afternoon!
The fox was one I was desperate to get the hide from though, but after being in the freezer for over a year, being a poor little victim of the road and also us being in a rush, she sadly wasn't in the best condition.
After the tanning process, her hide had been hanging up in the shed for aaaaages drying and the lesson for me here is that I left her in there way longer than I should have! Cold damp shed environment over winter was the perfect condition for some mould....
I'm hoping that after just brushing it off, she'll be okay? π
I have a feeling the mould grew on top, separate to the tanning process, instead of within it... If that makes sense?
Either way stay tuned haha! This spring I'm going through the rest of the sheds treasures, all the little wings and tails and hides and bones I managed to salvage!
