Orc huts WIP

Ladies and gentlemen,

it's again time to show some progress on the huts! I have added the leather skin texturing for the walls. In the pics you are seeing the base color version and there will be a few to choose from. The roof is an old prototype from when shortly before this whole thread of work went into hibernation. I will rework that so the style and color options will match those of the walls.

For doors and windows I let the design of modern camping tents inspire me to how I can imagine them being "implemented" in such a cultural setting. I wanted something a little more advanced than the very primitive one from the small "Savages Settlement" huts. For decoration highlight I gave those strips of leather a kind of leopard print.

For color options I went with the following.

From left to right: natural base and then beast ochre, lizard green and dragon red. Combine these with the usual color modifier layers and you can build a settlement with "unique" or at least different looking buildings!

I am working on adding more details for the walls for now. I want to have a bone/tusk post option and then some extra big column options as seen in this prototype.

Again those will be either wood columns or huge bones/tusks for a more fantasy setting.

So things are looking good on this front.

Sadly I have some bad news too. Our very beloved cat had to be put to sleep as he was diagnosed with feline arterial thromboembolism which apparently is not cureable and very painful for the animal. I was surprised how hard that hit me. I always had animals throughout my life and am used to them having to die due to the shorter life length. But this cat was a Bengal and the outstanding intelligence and eagerness to communicate very vocally (and often) plus his way of demanding attention and playtime somehow made him feel more like a "real friend" if you know what I mean.

But life goes on. I expect at my current age that the rate of news of this sort will increase. One of the bad parts of getting old. Let's celebrate life and use each day for good things as long as we can and honour those we have lost.

With this sentimental note I will leave you today. As usual, until next time, stay safe and keep building!

Chris

That's a great idea. I will look into that.

Chris - (sorry about your feline) - I hope that you do a winter version of this with impacted snow on the surfaces.
