Absolutely, though he's not really in danger of losing his power anyway, he's generally popular with the troops, the nobles, and the citizens. That's been why Sonorie has had to tip-toe around him - people like him more than they like her. What he's hoping to do is widen that divide even more, to the point that he can take the throne when she dies/is deposed. A stunning victory today might very well give him that ability, particularly if the nobles and church feel they and the country are in immediate, mortal peril.

2022-11-02 14:36:52 +0000 UTCI do wonder though; say, if Bell jumped in RN and helped to fight back two-toes and Alds without doing the Sonorie coup thing, would he be able to segway into being a saviour and keeping his place as the Lord General through sheer positive public opinion (as he'd be a dashing hero jumping in to save the day as far as everyone not privy to the coup is concerned).
