If you know anything about programming, Dylan, you can think of it as the difference between writing out a whole function, and simply referring to the function's name. Khert-hubs make spellcasting much simpler and faster for the majority of wrights. They can do other things, particularly track wrights' spellcasting and allow cops to monitor bad actors. The one in our story currently also is used in defense, emanating a shield that is too big and powerful for a normal pymaric to execute.

I assume these simplified spells are used on a daily basis and will keep a lot of people from being able to do their job without them.
