Land of Wolves: Chapters 71-75

Every inch of Caleb’s body is wrapped around mine when I wake up, his stomach pressing against my back and his thigh hooked over my hip. It’s like he’s trying to keep me from leaving, his sleep state desperate to hold me tight.
I love it, and I smile into my pillow as I realize I can finally feel our bond.
My body practically vibrates where it touches his, comforting tingles spreading across every inch of me. It feels incredible after having to go all day yesterday without, and I wiggle back into Caleb’s chest with a content sigh.
He breathes into my hair, and his arm loops around my waist in a tight squeeze. His hips press against my butt, bringing attention to the hard length against me. I half expect him to roll over me and sink inside as I know he loves to do, but he refrains.
I’m a bit sore from last night, so I’m not complaining.
“Morning,” Caleb says.
His voice is rough with sleep, making me shiver. I’ll never tire of this, and I can’t help but smile when he hooks his leg even further over my hip. His thigh is heavy, weighing me into the mattress, but I don’t mind.
“Morning,” I whisper. “How’d you sleep?”
Caleb gives me a tight squeeze.
“This was the best sleep I’ve had in weeks,” he admits. “You smell like me, like my cum, and it pleases my wolf.”
As if to prove his point, Caleb buries his nose into the back of my neck and inhales.
“Caleb!” I snort, wiggling away.
I feel his lips curling against my skin before he kisses the base of my neck and pulls back.
“Did they wake you up?” he asks, chaining the subject.
What? I trail my fingers over his forearm, enjoying the tingles, before spinning around. Caleb smiles as I turn to face him, and I can’t help but let out a small gasp as I take in his eye. It looks so much better, the swelling gone and the bruising healed to a light yellow, and I gently pull his eyelids apart to see better.
“Ev,” Caleb groans, swatting me away. “Stop that.”
I snicker, releasing him.
He’s feeling better, alright.
Caleb rolls onto his back, bringing me with him. I let him maneuver me however he wants, and I’m more than content as he urges me to lay sprawled over his chest.
He smells so good, and I take a moment to enjoy it before lifting my head and kissing him. His lips mold around my own, and when his hand travels down my backside, I take great pleasure in pulling back and swatting him away.
Two can play at that game.
“Did who wake me up?” I ask, nestling my face into his armpit.
“Cole, Sash, and Adam,” Caleb answers.
I stiffen, his words taking a second to register. Why on earth would they have woken me up?
Are they outside? Plenty of wolves lingered around the house yesterday, monitoring to ensure there was no danger from HPAW, but they’re quiet. Other than the occasional rustling and rare howl, I couldn’t hear them.
I pause, taking a moment to listen. I expect to hear knocking at the front door or some howling outside, but instead, I’m met with something significantly worse.
The clanging of dishes downstairs.
“Oh, my god,” I gasp, jolting away from Caleb. “How long have they been here?”
Caleb shrugs, looking the least bit apologetic. “An hour or so.”
“An hour!” I lower my voice when it grows too loud. “Why didn’t you wake me up and tell me?”
The clanging downstairs stops, and I grimace before jumping out of bed and rushing to the closet. My clothes are still at my apartment, and I roughly grab a pair of Caleb’s sweatpants before pulling a t-shirt out of his drawer.
I can’t believe he let me sleep while people wait downstairs for him. I want to win over the wolves, but here Caleb is ignoring them so he can cuddle in bed with me. Not to mention him talking about how he can smell his cum on me.
Can he really? I’d like to believe he was only saying that to get a reaction out of me.
Caleb steps into the closet and leans against the doorframe. He makes no attempts to hide his prying eyes, and I can tell he’s taking great pleasure in watching me scramble. He’s still naked from last night, but I successfully avoid admiring him.
He looks good, all long limbs and defined muscles, and he knows it. I would’ve taken my sweet time exploring him this morning if it weren’t for everybody downstairs.
I grab a second pair of sweatpants and toss them at Caleb.
“Get dressed,” I order him.
Caleb chuckles. “Yes, ma’am.”
He’s pulling them up his legs a second later, and I do the same before smoothing my hands nervously down my hair. I haven’t seen Cole or Sash since the attack, and it’s safe to say things between us weren’t exactly good.
Cole was his usual distant self, but Sash still hated me.
The last time I saw Adam, I was sobbing into Caleb’s chest with my asshole on display.
I should run a brush through my hair before going downstairs.
“Wait,” Caleb says, grabbing my waist as I leave the closet.
I stop, my pulse racing as Caleb cups my chin, tilts my head back, and kisses me. He takes his time, and I lift on my toes as he tilts his head to the side, deepening our kiss. I know we can’t get carried away right now, but I allow myself a few seconds to indulge before dropping back onto the flats of my feet.
“I love you, Ev,” he whispers, following my lips. “I love you so fucking much.”
My heart soars, and I cup Caleb’s cheeks with a soft sigh.
“I love you, too.”
Caleb pulls me into his chest and presses his forehead against mine. He breathes, his chest rumbling, before he turns and brushes his cheek against mine. He’s only ever done this once before, and tears fill my eyes as I remember what it means.
It’s a meaningful gesture to the wolves.
He’s placing me above him.
My palms are clammy, and I curl them around Caleb’s wrists before turning and pressing my cheek against his. He sighs, and I do the same before pulling away with a giddy smile. I feel like a cheesy, lovesick teenager.
“I need to finish getting ready,” I say.
Caleb releases me, and I hurry into the bathroom to brush my teeth and quickly wipe my stomach. The last thing I want is to go downstairs smelling of cum.
What is everybody even doing here? Caleb mentioned meeting with them to begin discussing how to move forward with HPAW, and I assume that’s the reason for their visit.
I’m not sure if Caleb will even let me be in the room for those conversations—I won’t be offended if he decides he wants me to sit out—but I want to help however I can. I want to be useful.
Caleb’s standing by the bedroom door when I finally exit the bathroom. I assumed he’d be gone by now, and my cheeks turn a bright shade of red as I realize he’s waiting for me.
I hurry over, loving how Caleb curls his hand around mine and laces our fingers together. He’s being especially cute this morning, and I’m a fan.
“Are you okay?” he asks. “Your heart is pounding.”
I nod. “Just a little nervous to see everybody,” I admit.
My palm is sweaty within Caleb’s, but he politely pretends not to notice. He seems to sense I don’t want to elaborate, especially when I know everybody downstairs can very likely hear us, and we make our way downstairs in silence.
The clattering of dishes and low murmuring grows louder as we approach the kitchen, although I’m sure the wolves know we’re coming. Their hearing is too good for them not to.
I gnaw at my bottom lip as we round the corner separating the living room from the kitchen.
Sash, Cole, and Adam are standing by the stove, all three clustered together. Sash stands in front with a spatula while Cole hugs her from behind. Adam is standing about two feet away, peering over Sash’s shoulder to see the food she’s cooking.
I can tell it’s bacon from the smell alone.
“I thought I said I’d call you when we woke up,” Caleb says, releasing my hand and stepping slightly in front of me.
Adam moves away from Sash and Cole, his eyes immediately landing on me. His stare is intense, and I can practically feel him evaluate me head to toe. I don’t heal nearly as quickly as the wolves do, but I’m looking better.
It’s a miracle what a good night’s rest and some food can do to a person.
Sash pushes Cole off her before spinning toward Caleb and me. She looks just about as uncomfortable as I feel, and I shift my weight from foot to foot as she examines me just as Adam did moments ago. I have a feeling if I look at Cole, I’ll find him doing the same thing.
There’s a tense silence before Sash clears her throat and gestures to the island standing between us.
It’s covered in breakfast food, from pancakes and sausage to cut-up fruit and eggs. There’s an empty plate set aside, and I assume that’s where the bacon she’s currently cooking will go.
“I came by early to cook for you two, but Cole followed me and Adam is looking for any excuse not to be at home with his mate right now,” she explains.
Caleb hums.
My stomach growls.
Greg insisted I eat while in the hospital, but the food was bland and barely filling. I’m starving.
“Can I speak with Evelyn?” Sash continues, cutting Caleb a sharp look. “Privately.”
What? Why?
My back breaks into a cold sweat, and I nervously glance at Caleb. He turns and gives me a soft smile, probably trying to be comforting, before he gives a curt nod and steps away.
“I’ll be listening,” he threatens, gesturing for Cole and Adam to follow him.
I think I’m going to shit myself, and I shoot Adam my best ‘help me’ eyes as he walks past. He ignores them, naturally, before disappearing with Caleb. I hate him.
“Evelyn…” Sash starts.
She gestures again to the food on the island.
“This is apology food,” she says. “Because, well, I’m sorry.”
I fist the fabric of my shirt while Sash rubs the back of her neck. She’s sorry? I’m surprised to hear her apologize, and it renders me momentarily silent.
“I was so upset when I heard what happened between you and Caleb, and I let it get the better of me,” she continues.
I gulp, my throat dry.
“It’s not like I’m without fault,” I admit, not waking her to take all the blame. “I fucked up.”
She hurt me, but I understand why. Sash loves Caleb, that much is obvious, and I know she was just trying to look out for him. I slit her brother’s neck, tried to kill him, and I can’t blame her for not being my biggest fan afterward.
If I were in her position, I have the feeling I probably would’ve done the same thing.
I wouldn’t have wanted him to end up with me, and I would’ve done whatever possible to ensure he found a female wolf who would treat him well.
Sash licks her lips and glances toward the living room where Caleb, Adam, and Cole disappeared. I’m sure they haven’t gone far, and I’m also sure they’re eavesdropping on every bit of this conversation. Caleb already made it clear he’d be listening.
A few more awkward seconds pass before Sash grabs a plate of food and slides it in my direction.
“We have a busy day today,” she says. “You should eat.”
A busy day? Quiet footfalls echo behind me, and I instinctively relax when a hard body presses against my back and fingers curl around my hips.
Chapter 72
All four of us make our way into the living room, our hands filled with plates of food. Sash, Cole, and Adam patiently waited—Cole and Adam a little less patiently—for Caleb and me to serve ourselves before filling their plates. I thought Caleb ate a lot, but those three could clear out a grocery store.
Sash and Cole take over the loveseat, the two squishing in next to one another, and Adam takes over the reclining chair pushed up against the wall next to the TV. Caleb and I make our way to the couch.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours cuddling on this particular piece of furniture, occasionally doing even more, and my cheeks warm as I sit next to Caleb on it. We sink into the cushions, and Caleb wordlessly moves closer to me when he realizes I’ve left a small gap.
I smile as he smooshes his thigh against mine.
There’s enough room for us to sit comfortably, but I love how he insists on cuddling.
It probably would’ve made the most sense for all of us to sit at the dining room table, but I’m happy we’re eating in the living room. It’s more comfortable, and I love the feeling of cushions and softness after spending so long in the cold, hard HPAW cell.
I wonder if that’s why Caleb led us in here in the first place. I haven’t said anything about it, but he’s exceptionally good at reading me. I’m sure Adam’s giving away quiet signals, too. I’m not picking up on any, not that I’m paying much attention, but Caleb’s probably looking.
I eye the pancakes and sausages I served myself before grabbing my fork and digging in. My actions seem to be the catalyst, and soon all of us are eating.
“This is so good,” I moan after a few minutes of stuffing my face.
Adam makes an agreement noise in the back of his throat, and Caleb taps the outside of his knee against mine as he swallows his eggs.
“I think you’re just hungry,” he teases.
Sash gasps. “Hey!”
It takes a few seconds for Caleb’s subtle insult toward Sash to register, and I snort out a laugh the moment it does. Sash is a fine cook, and the food is good. Even if I weren’t starving, I’d have a feeling I’d still be enjoying it.
Besides, judging by the speed at which Caleb shovels the food into his mouth, I know he thinks it’s good, too.
We take another few minutes to eat, and once I’m pretty sure my stomach is about to burst, I set my plate on the coffee table and lean back on the couch. I’m ready for a nap, and I curl into Caleb’s side while the wolves finish their food.
Adam gets up to get seconds as Sash and Cole set their plates next to mine, and Caleb picks at his eggs a bit more before also setting his plate down.
“I suppose we should discuss what happened while we were separated,” Caleb says.
My pulse races, and I nervously wring my hands together while Adam returns to the room with a second full plate. He plops down in his seat before, thankfully, launching into an explanation.
“I was pumped full of some horse tranquilizer right after we were captured, and we were taken directly to the facility,” he starts. “They took Ev to medical right when we arrived, and they had some sort of reinforced steel cell made up for wolves they threw me into.”
Caleb glances at me, and I nod to confirm that’s true.
“I had a giant piece of metal in my chest,” I say, absentmindedly rubbing the bandage under my shirt. “I woke up in medical a day or two after we arrived. They’d removed the shrapnel from my chest and bandaged up all the wounds I received from the attack.”
My voice cracks, and I clear my throat before continuing. “Dan was there when I woke up. I tried pretending to be a part of HPAW, but he pointed out that the mark on my hand proved I was lying. When he left the room, I cut it off.”
“They left you with a knife?” Caleb asks.
I shake my head. “Dan did.”
A painful flash of guilt rushes through me, and I press my lips together as I wait for it to pass. Dan wasn’t a good man, even if he did a few kind things near the end. I refuse to feel bad for killing him.
“Eventually, they took me to leadership to plead my case, and from there, I was sent to the cell with Adam,” I continue. “Dan took me to eat and see medical in the afternoons, but those were the only times I was taken out of the room.”
I have half a mind to mention Bells, but I decide not to. Everybody knows she’s Adam’s mate, and I don’t want to say something he’d rather have kept quiet.
“They pulled me out a few times for testing, which is how I met Bells, but other than that, I remained in the room,” Adam says.
Caleb wraps his arm around my shoulder before apparently deciding that’s not enough and pulling me onto his lap. He drops his chin onto the top of my head and runs his hands down my arms, the touch comforting.
“What kind of testing?” Caleb asks Adam.
Adam licks his lips before shaking his head.
Silence stretches between us, everybody waiting to see if Caleb will push. I’ll never forget how horrid Adam looked when he was brought back into the room after testing, how his skin would turn that painful, splotchy blue and his veins would swell up and press against his skin.
It looked agonizing, and I’m convinced whatever they were doing would’ve killed him within only a couple of days.
“I’m not discussing it,” Adam says, filling the silence.
I feel Caleb’s throat bob as he gulps. “Very well,” he decides.
Sash stands and grabs all our plates, and Caleb tightens his grip on my hips before continuing his questioning.
“What did you two do to trigger the infidelity pain?”
My heart stops. I knew Caleb was going to ask this, it was only a matter of time, but hearing the question spoken out loud still feels jarring. Sash takes that as her cue to leave the room, mumbling something about putting the leftover food away before she disappears.
I look at Adam.
Adam looks at me.
I continue to look at Adam, waiting for him to speak up.
Adam takes a giant bite of bacon and turns away, avoiding eye contact.
It looks like it’s up to me to explain this. It’s terribly awkward, especially with Sash and Cole listening in. I know Adam and I did what we needed to, and we aren’t to blame, but that doesn’t mean it’s fun to sit down and tell your mate about how another man fondled your nipples.
A few seconds pass, but thankfully Caleb doesn’t rush me to speak.
I’m sure he’s dreading his part of this conversation as much as I’m dreading mine. He knows I will ask who he was kissing, where he was kissing them, and how he was doing it. I’m not angry, and I understand why it happened, but I still want to know.
“The cell we were put in only had one bed…if you could call it that. It was pretty much just a slab of wood,” I start. “We’d share it, and one night I was tapping the pattern of my burning lips into Adam’s chest. I wasn’t sure what it was, but Adam recognized it.”
I’m stalling, which I’m sure is incredibly apparent. Caleb runs a soothing hand down my spine, the touch making me relax my painfully stiff muscles. I’m sure he can see how worked up I am, and he waits patiently while I gnaw at my bottom lip and try to think over my following words.
“Whenever we’d need to communicate with you, Adam would put his hand up my shirt and touch my chest,” I blurt out.
I leave out as much detail as possible, not wanting to discuss how Adam would pinch and rub at my nipples until my body grew aroused. I’m sure Caleb can draw conclusions, and I don’t want to admit it out loud.
Cole awkwardly clears his throat and stands, leaving to help Sash with the dishes. I appreciate the privacy, and Adam seems to take that as his cue as he also jumps up and disappears from the room.
Caleb chuckles, but it lacks any humor.
“I was worried he was touching you with his mouth,” he admits.
I hurry to shake my head.
“Just his hands,” I confirm. Caleb rests his head against mine as I work up the courage to return the question. “What about you?” I finally ask.
I’m not sure how much I want the answer.
Caleb presses his lips to the top of my head, his chest expanding as he sucks in a deep breath.
“The bonds are smart, and they can be finicky with what they constitute as cheating in situations like this,” he explains. “I’m sure you and Adam had to get…” Caleb pauses and taps his fingers against my arms. “…intimate for the bond to register as cheating. I didn’t want to go that route, not when I had other options. I thought it would be better to feel nothing with a person you would disapprove of than feel pleasure with somebody you would.”
He’s avoiding spitting it out just as much as I was, but I don’t have the same patience. I spin around in Caleb’s arms and straddle his lap to see his face.
He doesn’t hesitate to grab my hips, his grip tight as he meets my eye.
I hesitate, debating if this is appropriate, before quickly ducking down and kissing him. I want him to know I’m not angry, even if he can sense my tension.
“There were two women,” Caleb continues when I pull away. “The first was Grace. She and I have never been anything more than friends, and she understood the gravity of the situation. I know you didn’t necessarily like her given our history, and I thought that would be enough to trigger the bond.”
Caleb visibly hesitates before continuing.
“The second was Jan.”
I recoil, the action involuntary. Jan? There’s no way.
She’s tormented me since the first time we met. She goes out of her way to make my life hell, going as far as to talk about the things she fantasizes about doing with Caleb and making crude assumptions about what he’s doing with other women. She was horrible to me.
Caleb knows that.
“I needed to make sure you felt it,” Caleb rushes to say. “Nothing happened when I tried with Grace, and I didn’t want to make things intimate with anybody.”
I lick my lips, at a loss for words.
“You’re the only woman who’s ever made me feel good, who’s ever brought me any sort of pleasure, and I didn’t want to share that with anybody else. Things were kept clinical between Jan and me. We were never alone, and there was no physical contact beyond our lips.” Caleb sounds borderline frantic. “I’ve banished her from the pack. I already planned on doing so before the attack, so you’ll never see her again.”
I shut my eyes, absorbing that information, before cupping Caleb’s cheeks and pressing our foreheads together. I’m not angry, even if my eyes are watering and annoying tears are leaking down my cheeks.
Caleb wipes them away.
“I love you,” I whisper, needing him to hear it. “And I’m glad you chose the option you did.”
As much as I hate hearing that he kissed the woman who undoubtedly took great pleasure in knowing she was hurting me, I’m glad he chose not to go the intimate route. It’s what I had to do with Adam, and I hate that I now know what it feels like to find pleasure in his touch.
It’s something I’d have happily gone my entire life never knowing.
“Are you upset with me?” I ask.
Caleb shakes his head, his hair tickling my cheeks.
“Never.”
He tucks my hair behind my ears before pulling me in for another kiss. His lips slot between mine, and I curl my hands around his shoulders as he cups the back of my head to hold me still.
“What else happened while I was gone?” I ask, pulling away.
My chest feels lighter now that we’ve gotten this conversation over with, and Caleb looks relieved, too.
Sash and Cole return to the room, and after a few seconds, Adam enters, too. He glances nervously at Caleb, probably worried my mate will try and hurt him, but he visibly relaxes when all Caleb does is bury his face in my neck and breathe me in.
“Well?” I pry.
Chapter 73
Caleb continues to smell me, still not answering my question, while Sash and Cole exchange glances. Adam nervously looks between Caleb and me, and after a moment, Sash takes it upon herself to answer.
“We were planning to infiltrate the HPAW facility. There are…” Sash trails off and glances at Caleb. I feel him nod against my head, giving her permission to continue whatever she’s about to say. “Several wolves are working there, and we were going to use them to pull you and Adam out.”
Several wolves are working in the HPAW facility? How? Every employee, even the cleaning crew and caterers, are carefully vetted. The interview process is intensive, and thorough background checks need to be run before anybody can access the facility.
There’s no way a wolf, let alone multiple, would’ve been able to find employment with HPAW. Especially within a facility.
I just can’t fathom it.
“There are thousands of wolves living among the humans,” Caleb says, his voice low as he whispers into the back of my head. “Before HPAW ramped up border protection, hundreds of mated pairs went into the human lands to birth and raise their children. Those children have an extensive paper trail, and most have gone on to find jobs in government and other important sectors.”
Caleb smooths his fingers over mine before continuing. “We didn’t have wolves inside the facility until after you were sent here. It was too risky, but after seeing how everything between us could’ve been avoided, we decided to take the risk and place our wolves within the facilities.”
I suppose, in theory, that makes sense, but there’s just no way. Humans and wolves may look relatively similar, but they’re too different to go unnoticed. Especially for an extended period of time.
“They’d have no medical records or family history, though,” I point out. “Small things like those would surely be noticed in a thorough background check.”
Caleb brushes my hair out of my face before tucking a strand behind my ear. I flush, slightly embarrassed he’s doing this while everybody in the room looks at us. I usually wouldn’t mind, but knowing they overheard Caleb telling me I smell like his cum while we were in bed this morning, I feel like we should tone it down a bit.
Although, nobody seems to care.
Sash and Cole are cuddled on the loveseat to the point they’re practically one body, and Adam is so lost in his own world I don’t think he has any idea what’s happening right now. I’m sure his head is filled with thoughts of Bells.
“It’s safe for children to ingest small quantities of suppressants,” Caleb explains. “They take them before doctor’s appointments, which weakens them to the point they can pass for humans. The family history is a bit trickier, but we have ways to work around that.”
I can’t believe he’s trusting me with this information.
“Anyway,” Sash interrupts, continuing what she was saying earlier. “We had worked with Adam on a plan to get you two out, but then Dan reached out with information on HPAW’s plan to execute you so we shifted course, naturally. The rescue would’ve exposed our wolves, and we want to keep them in the facilities for now.”
That makes sense. I’m sure a significant amount of their intel comes from those wolves, and I understand why they wouldn’t be eager to lose that. If HPAW found out one wolf was able to make their way in, they’d freak out.
Every employee would be under investigation, and it’d open the doors for them to find more of Caleb’s wolves.
I glance at Adam. “Did you know about that?” I ask. “HPAW’s plan to execute us?”
He shakes his head. “Given your rapid health declines, Caleb and I decided to forego communication unless absolutely necessary.”
Caleb begins smelling the back of my head again, and I lean forward and smoothly disconnect from him before readjusting to sit on the couch instead of on his lap. He frowns, clearly displeased, but doesn’t try to stop me.
“My rapid health declines?”
Adam nods, but he makes no attempt to explain. Neither does Caleb. I wouldn’t have described my health as ‘rapidly declining.’
“The human news cycle is exploding with reports on Caleb’s death,” Cole says, changing the subject. “The view recording is being shared liberally amongst the humans. They think the pack is in shambles, and they intend us to pull back while we regroup.”
I’m sure HPAW didn’t hesitate to share the video of Caleb getting shot. I wonder if I’m in it, and I nervously pick at the hem of my shirt as I recall how I sobbed over his body and tried to fight Cole when he pulled me away.
The humans are probably eating it up.
“HPAW has extensive plans with the human military in the case of Caleb’s death,” I say.
I’ve got no clue what those plans are, but I know they exist. It’s never really been a secret, and the facility was always full of chatter whenever higher members of government would stop by for a meeting. I only ever knew about them because, for 90% of their visits, I was brought to an interview room with Dan.
There was a large mirrored wall across from where I sat, and I assumed the visitor was watching me from the other side.
The questions I’d be asked were relatively tame, usually about my feelings toward HPAW and the wolves. Occasionally, I was made to review my detailed plan to win Caleb’s trust and assassinate him for the humans or the backstory HPAW created for me.
“HPAW has its own militia, but it’s small,” I continue to say. I’m sure Caleb already knows this, but I figure it doesn’t hurt to share what I know. I want to help, however I can. “HPAW is just a small section of the human government, and there are plans in place for the human military to assist in the case of Caleb’s death.”
I don’t think the human government cares about the wolves as much as HPAW does. The wolves aren’t our only threat, and several human-on-human wars are currently occurring. The wolves pose a significant threat, but considering Caleb has never gone out of his way to attack, I have a feeling they’ve fallen to the back burner.
HPAW’s support comes from the general population, and their power is in the masses.
In theory, nothing is stopping them from opening up their doors, supplying people with weapons, and sending them off into the wolf lands.
That’s probably exactly what they’re planning.
They need skilled attacks when Caleb is around, but there’s less need if they think he’s gone and the packs are in shambles. If there’s no need for strategic, pinpointed attacks, a lack of soldiers is the only thing holding them back.
I’m sure there are plenty of idiotic, over-hyped humans willing to throw their lives away for the slight possibility of killing a wolf and earning bragging points among their friends. They’ll probably die in the process, but many humans seem to think they’re invincible.
“The human government has agreed to supply HPAW with heavy artillery in the case of my death,” Caleb says.
Well, that’s news to me. How does he know so much?
“Then why pretend you’re dead?” I ask.
“Because then they aren’t expecting an attack from us,” Cole answers for Caleb. “And because Caleb was desperate to save you.”
Caleb grumbles, a low deep noise that seeps from his chest, but he doesn’t deny anything. My heart pounds, and I shift on the couch before reaching out and clasping my hand in his. My pulse settles as the tingles spread up my arm.
I’m so glad the sparks are back.
Caleb seems to take that as an invitation, and I yelp as he wraps his arm around my waist and drags me back onto his lap. An abrupt laugh bursts out of Sash’s mouth, the sound borderline unnerving. I’m still reeling over her apology, and being in a room so close to her feels odd.
“The Alphas from my three top packs are already on their way here,” Caleb says, sliding his hands up my thighs.
His sweatpants are soft against my skin, and I’m practically drowning in the fabric. I’m sure he doesn’t mind, though. Caleb loves when I wear his things, probably because it makes me reek of him.
Can Sash, Cole, and Adam smell Caleb’s cum? I gave my stomach another wipe before coming downstairs, but the wolves have an impeccable sense of smell.
It haunts me.
“We assume HPAW has eyes on the pack, and they’ll think the Alphas are coming here to fight over my position,” Caleb continues. “They’ll be here tomorrow afternoon, and we intend to have a rough plan in place by the end of the week.”
By the end of the week? That’s so quick, but I suppose we don’t have time to spare. HPAW already has plans, and it’s only a matter of time before they attack. We need to be prepared by then.
“Do the wolves know you’re alive?” I ask.
Caleb nods. “Most of them do. Some smaller packs might not be aware, but word travels fast among the wolves.”
Cole clears his throat, drawing our attention.
“We should make it known that you’re alive sooner rather than later,” he says, directing the statement toward Caleb. “HPAW’s begun putting out statements, and when the humans find out they were wrong, it will hurt HPAW’s credibility with the general population.”
Sash runs a hand through her hair with a quiet sigh.
“Yeah, but then they’ll know we’re planning to attack,” she says. “The whole point of this was to create an opening for our people. The human borders are next to impossible to get through, and this could be the only opportunity to get into the human lands undetected.”
Everybody knows that humans keep a close eye on the borders. Even where there aren’t physical men guarding, heat-sensing drones fly around. I’m surprised the wolves were about to get to the execution spot undetected.
Whatever strategy the wolves used has probably already been dissected by HPAW, and the wolves won’t be able to use it again.
“Do you know the exact locations of all the HPAW facilities?” Caleb asks me.
I straighten my spine with a quick nod.
“Yes,” I say. “Yes, I do.”
“No, Caleb,” Sash huffs, interrupting. “We’re not doing that.”
Cole clears his throat, looking mildly uncomfortable, before he wraps an arm around her waist and pulls her into his side.
“Not doing what?” I ask.
Nobody immediately answers me, and I glance between all four wolves before settling my glare on Caleb. I don’t trust the sudden secrecy, especially when they’ve been so open.
“Not doing what?” I repeat.
Caleb clenches his jaw, working it side to side, before shifting his attention from Sash to me. He doesn’t look pleased, and the tension in the room is unbearably thick.
“There are dozens of marked humans living across the facilities, and I intend to get them out before launching any attacks,” he says. “HPAW will likely execute them once they realize I’m alive. They took and harmed my mate, and they’ll know I’m planning to attack.”
I gulp, my throat dry.
“They’d rather kill the humans than let you have them?” I guess.
Caleb gives a curt nod. “That’s correct.”
I’ve heard whispers that other marked humans were captured and raised in the facilities as I was, but I don’t know anything about it. HPAW made a pointed effort to keep us separated, probably for a good reason. Given how passionate the wolves are about their mates, HPAW knows we’re some of their best leverage.
A perfect fallback plan.
“I’m sure HPAW’s got the humans locked away,” I say. “And they probably don’t even want to leave.”
If HPAW raised them anything like me, they hate the wolves. They’ll sound the alarms the moment they see one, and they’ll fight tooth and nail to remain in the facility. It’s precisely what I would’ve done.
“We’ll find a way,” Caleb insists.
I turn and glance at Sash. She doesn’t look pleased, and she avoids meeting my eye. She doesn’t want to save the other humans in the facility, and I wonder what Cole and Adam think about it. I don’t feel like I have enough information to form an opinion.
A few awkward seconds pass before Caleb kisses my head and gently urges me to stop staring at Sash.
“That’s a conversation we’ll wait to have with the three Alphas,” he says. “And we’ll make a decision then.”
Sash gives a jerky nod before opening her mouth to say something, but a knock on the door cuts her off. Caleb gently brushes me off his lap before making his way to the door, and I peer over the couch as he pulls it open and greets the wolf standing on the other side.
“Yes?” he asks.
The wolf glances around Caleb’s shoulder and makes eye contact with Adam.
“I’m sorry to interrupt, but Bells has been spotted trying to climb out of your apartment window,” he says. “We’re concerned she’s going to hurt herself.”
Adam drops his head into his hands before shaking his head and standing. He looks beyond stressed, and he shoves his fists into his pocket before making his way to the door. I expect him to say something, at least to Caleb, but instead, he silently walks directly out the front door and begins to strip.
I look away, and Caleb shuts the door just as Adam begins to transform into a large, brown wolf.
Chapter 74
I nudge Caleb with my toes, capturing his attention. He glances at me, a smile teetering at the corners of his lips, before turning back to his computer.
“One second,” he says, frantically typing away.
He’s been on his computer since Sash and Cole left, and he even ate lunch and dinner over the keyboard like a maniac. I can only imagine how much work he has to catch up on, especially since it doesn’t sound like he did much while I was gone.
From the bits and pieces I’ve gathered, his entire focus these past few days has been on rescuing Adam and me.
The keyboard tapping pauses, and Caleb gives a slight shake of his head as his eyes dart over the screen. He readjusts on the couch, shifting his computer further down his lap, before flexing his fingers and resuming typing.
I’m sure it’d be easier for him to go to his office and meet with his wolves in person, but he’s trying to keep a low profile. HPAW can be sneaky with their surveillance, and he doesn’t want to risk being spotted by a drone or some satellite imaging.
He’s taken seven meetings from his computer today, so it’s not like he’s unable to do anything, but I’m sure it’s less effective than actually going into the office.
Caleb lets out a low sigh before shutting his computer and turning to me, the man looking thoroughly exhausted.
It’s been a long day.
“Do you think everything is going to be okay between Bells and Adam?” I ask.
I’ve been worried about it all day. Adam is always so carefree, bouncing around and chatting without a care in the world, but today he seemed so upset. He hardly spoke, and he looked devastated when that wolf came by to tell him Bells was trying to climb out of his apartment window.
I figured her affiliation with HPAW would make her combative, but I thought the mate bond would be enough to change her mind.
I fell victim to it almost immediately.
“I’m not sure,” Caleb says, setting his computer on the coffee table. He grabs my feet and throws them over his lap before taking hold of my ankles. “It’s not common for mates to struggle so much, and I’m sure this isn’t what Adam envisioned for himself.”
This is probably Adam’s worst nightmare. He always seemed so excited when he spoke about his future mate, and I know this is far from what he wanted.
“Do you think it would help if I talked to Bells?” I ask.
It might be helpful for her to hear from another human, especially one who once was a part of HPAW, but I don’t want to risk making things worse for Adam. Bells probably sees me as a traitor, and she might not take well to me trying to speak with her.
She probably blames me for everything, too.
“Or maybe we could try and get her a job at the hospital,” I continue, eager to brainstorm. “She was a good nurse at the HPAW facility, and she might enjoy getting back to work.”
Caleb buries his thumbs into the soles of my feet, gently massaging them. My feet are crusty right now, though, and I grimace as I pull my feet out of his grasp. Caleb doesn’t mind my calluses and blisters, but I’d prefer to keep them away from him.
Mates tend to share everything, but this is one thing I’d like to keep to myself.
“I can’t put her in the hospital,” Caleb says, frowning as I tuck my feet under my thigh. His hands twitch, but he doesn’t attempt to snatch them back. I’m pleasantly surprised by his restraint. “There’s too much trouble there for her to get into, and I can’t take the risk when she’s still acting out.”
Caleb shifts, turning to face me, before crawling over top of me and squeezing into the small space between me and the side of the couch. I move over to make room for him, my heart tugging as he wraps his arms around my waist and rests his head on my chest.
“Once everything between her and Adam settles, and she’s not so much a risk to my people, I’d be happy to let her work in the hospital,” he continues. “I’m sure Greg will love to have the extra help, too. Especially now that Jan is gone.”
Anger flares through me at the mention of Jan, but I do my best to hide it. I’m still annoyed she and Caleb kissed, and I wiggle my arm out from under Caleb before wrapping it around his head and reaching for his mouth. He peers up at me, his brown eyes wide and unblinking, as I trace his full lips.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers, his breath tickling my fingers.
I shrug, not wanting to talk about it. I’m not mad at Caleb, and I understand why he did it. It’s not like he was left with many other options, and I know it was the only way to communicate with Adam and me.
“You have nothing to apologize for,” I say.
Caleb is quiet, and I continue to trace his lips before resting my hand on the top of his head. He hooks his leg around me, an action he’s been doing a lot lately. I like it, even when it makes me feel slightly constricted, and I relax underneath him with a content sigh.
The entire length of my body tingles where we touch, the sensation slightly dulled through our clothes. Caleb ended up stripping to his underwear after finishing the last of his calls an hour ago, but I still wear his sweatpants and shirt.
“When the Alphas arrive tomorrow, I’d like to introduce you as my female Alpha,” Caleb says, changing the subject.
I clear my throat, at a loss of how to respond as I digest that information. I faintly remember being called the female Alpha a long time ago, but I’m not quite sure it’s the right time for any of that. The wolves still haven’t forgiven me for my betrayal, even if they’ve decided to tolerate me for Caleb’s sake.
They’re willing to accept that I’m Caleb’s mate, but for him to claim me as the female Alpha gives me an actual title. It puts me above the other wolves, and they won’t like that.
This will only add fuel to the fire, and that’s the last thing we need right now.
“Your people might not be happy with that,” I say, carefully choosing my words. “I’m okay with being seen as only your mate.”
If Caleb were to die right now, his responsibilities would fall to Adam and Cole. It’s the plan that’s been in place for years, and the people are comfortable with it. If Caleb claims me as the female Alpha, it would mean I’m in charge.
Adam and Cole would still run the day-to-day, but I’d technically have authority over them.
“It might be different when we have children,” I continue. “People might be less angry over me having the title if they know it’s only until our children are of age.”
Caleb slides his hand down my torso and settles it over my stomach.
“You are my female Alpha, with or without my children,” he says.
I work my jaw side to side, uncomfortable with this argument. I don’t think it’s a good idea, but I also don’t think I’m in a position to tell Caleb what to do. It’s his pack, and he knows his people better than I do.
“How do you think people will react?” I ask. “To you giving me that title.”
Caleb shrugs. “I don’t care. I’m the Alpha of Alphas, and if they have a problem with it, they’re free to challenge me for my position.”
I sigh, running my hand through his hair. The strands are knotty, and I work to loosen one of the larger knots as his words sink in. Caleb’s always been so cautious about his people’s feelings, doing his best and going out of his way to ensure they’re happy.
This isn’t him talking.
“I’m okay, Caleb,” I whisper. “I’m safe with you, and HPAW isn’t going to get me again.”
Caleb sits up and peers down at me, his narrowed eyes scrutinizing.
“I know that,” he says.
“Do you?”
Caleb’s jaw goes momentarily slack before he clenches it shut and looks away. His face is entirely healed now, the stitches in his forehead and his swollen eye long forgotten. I found a few black, nylon-looking strings sitting on the bathroom counter this afternoon, which I’m pretty sure were his stitches.
I cringe at the touch of him ripping them out of his own head, but he probably didn’t need them once the suppressants wore off.
“Why are you so eager to give me the female Alpha title?” I ask, pushing the topic.
Caleb chews at the inside of his cheek before pushing himself the rest of the way into a sitting position. My knees bend over his thighs, and Caleb looks borderline nervous as he grabs my hands and pulls them into his chest.
“Because it’s my fault,” he admits.
I cock my head to the side, not following.
“What?” I ask. “Nothing is your fault, Caleb.”
Does he think it’s his fault HPAW kidnapped me? There’s no way he could’ve known about the attack, and if anybody is to blame, it’s me. I’m the one who had a chip implanted into my chest, unknowingly transmitting every conversation I’ve had to HPAW.
They knew about the party and how and where to find us because of me.
“I didn’t take the time to understand you,” Caleb explains, clutching my hands to his chest. “I wasn’t able to conceptualize just how poorly HPAW treated you. I knew you’d been with them since childhood, but I had no idea how isolated they kept you and how deeply they ingrained their ideologies into you.”
Caleb sucks in a shaky breath, his eyes flickering nervously between our clasped hands and my face, before continuing.
“I truly thought you’d be able to see how good my people were and change your mind about HPAW, and that wasn’t the right mindset to have. I got angry when you tried to kill me, but it was my fault for not explaining things to you,” he continues.
What? I try to free my hands, but Caleb refuses to release them.
“But I did change my mind about HPAW,” I point out. “And I knew you were good when I tried to kill you. I know what I was doing was wrong.”
Caleb shakes his head, disagreeing.
“But I shouldn’t have expected it from you!” he argues. “I shouldn’t have expected you to overcome those things for yourself, and I set you up for failure. It’s my fault my people don’t like you, and it’s my job to fix it. You should’ve never had the female Alpha title taken away. It’s yours, and if my people want to be angry, they should be angry at me.”
“I failed you, and I’ve been forcing you to take the blame for something that isn’t your fault. I’ve been forcing you to earn back the affection I stole from you.” Caleb releases my hands so he can grab and tug at his hair. “It’s my fault, Ev.”
He couldn’t be more wrong. I sit up and pull Caleb’s hands away from his head before taking a turn clutching them to my chest.
“We both fucked up, Caleb,” I say, eager for him to understand. “It’s not your fault.”
I’m not sure what I’m expecting Caleb to do, but it’s not for him to slither off the couch and drop to his knees in front of me. He looks desperate, his eyes wide and frantic, before he drops his forehead to my thighs.
“Forgive me, baby,” he begs. “Please, Ev. I’m so sorry.”
I shake my head, in complete disbelief this is happening, before sliding off the couch and joining him on the ground. Caleb shakes, his shoulders quivering with every breath, as I pull my shirt over my head and press my bare chest against his.
Singles erupt between us, and I pull him into a tight hug.
I think Caleb’s losing it.
“Shhh…” I whisper, smoothing my hands down his spine.
Caleb continues to shake, and I rub his back until it settles. I’ve never seen him so worked up before, and I’m unsure what to make of it. Should I take him back to the hospital? What if the rubber bullet messed up his brain? I know the wolves heal quickly, but maybe their brains are the exception. Maybe the part of his brain that hales his body heal was injured.
“I’m so sorry,” Caleb repeats.
I continue to smooth my hands down his back.
“It’s okay,” I say.
I want to tell him he has nothing to apologize for, but I have a feeling he won’t believe that. He doesn’t say anything else, and I continue to hold him until he begins to settle. My heart pounds, and I press kisses to the side of Caleb’s head in a sad attempt to soothe us both.
“I love you, Caleb,” I say. “And everything’s going to be okay.”
He sucks in a shaky breath and cups the back of my head, a move I’m taking as a good sign.
“I was so scared when you were taken,” he admits. “I thought I’d lost you forever, and it made me sick to hear from Adam what HPAW was doing to you. Wolves would never treat one another like that, we’d never betray our own the way the humans betrayed you, and I couldn’t imagine it. I didn’t realize, baby, and I’m so sorry.”
I press my lips together to stop their quivering. It feels good to have somebody acknowledge the trauma, to validate it, and I struggle to refrain from crying as Caleb pulls me onto his lap and buries my face in his neck.
“I’m going to kill them,” Caleb continues, his voice low. “I’m going to kill every single one of them.”
Chapter 75
Caleb sleeps soundly, about damn time, and I prop myself on my elbow as I peer down at him. I could feel him tossing and turning all night long, and I’m relieved he’s finally getting some good sleep.
His pupils twitch behind his eyelids, making me wonder what he’s dreaming about. Knowing Caleb, it’s either me or work. Probably me.
Smiling, I settle my head back on my pillow and cuddle into his chest. He needs rest, especially after last night’s freakout. I knew my kidnapping was hard on him, but I had no idea it took such a toll. I want to revisit the conversation about him claiming me as the female Alpha, but I’m worried about setting him off again.
As much as I appreciate the gesture, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I’m happy just being his mate, and I don’t think it’ll do any good to rush me up the wolf hierarchy.
There are better things to put our focus on right now.
The three Alphas will be here today, so I know I can’t put the conversation off for long. Maybe I’ll bring it up over breakfast tomorrow. Caleb’s always in his best mood when he’s eating.
My eyes slip shut as I listen to Caleb’s quiet breathing. It’s such a soothing sound, and it doesn’t take long to lull me back into sleep.
My arm’s gone numb by the time I wake up again, and I wiggle it free before peering at the clock sitting on the bedside table. It’s only been an hour, and it’s still early. Careful not to wake Caleb, I stretch my limbs and peer up at him.
He almost always wakes before me, and I’m not complaining about the opportunity to admire him.
The wolves are known for their conventional beauty, but Caleb is arguably one of the most attractive men I’ve ever seen. His messy brown hair is sprawled across his pillow, the wavy curls probably knotted from sleep. I should buy him a silk pillowcase.
It might help with his bedhead.
Slowly, I reach up and brush a curl out of his eye. Caleb’s nose crinkles, and he smacks his lips before rolling onto his back. I resist the urge to chuckle as I prop myself up on my elbow and peer down at him as I did the first time I woke up.
Caleb must’ve tugged the sheets down his legs as he slept, exposing his chest. The sheets now rest right at the waistband of his underwear, and I debate pulling it back up before deciding against it. All the movement would most definitely wake him up.
Besides, I quite enjoy the view.
Caleb’s body is thick with muscle, and I enjoy watching his abs shift with each breath. I want to touch, but it’s near impossible to do that without getting carried away. Even now, heat coils in my lower abdomen.
I want him.
A few seconds pass before I work up the courage to hook my leg over his waist. Caleb’s always doing this to me, trapping me in with his limbs, so it’s only fair I return the favor.
He seems to like it as he sleepily reaches for me, his left hand curling around my thigh while his right finds my head. He mindlessly slips his fingers through my hair before tugging me down and urging me to rest on his chest. I do, trying and failing to ignore the hard bulge pressing against the inside of my thigh.
What would he think if I reached into his underwear and took hold of him? Would he like to wake up to the feeling of my cunt or mouth sinking down the length of his cock. I want it so bad, but I resist.
I can’t just spring that on him, at least not without discussing it beforehand.
But fuck, I want to so badly.
Caleb tightens his grip on my thigh before sliding his hand to my hip.
“Morning,” he mumbles, his voice hoarse.
I press a kiss to his chest in response.
“Are you needing, baby,” he continues, sliding his hand back down my thigh. He pauses where it rests over his erection and presses down, bringing it to attention. “I can smell your arousal.”
Embarrassment blooms deep in my chest, but when I move to unhook my leg from around his waist, he tightens his grip and refuses to let me.
Caleb pointedly rolls his hips into my thigh. “Do you want my cock?”
I release a shaky breath before lifting my chin and pressing my lips to Caleb’s neck. It bobs as he gulps, and I feel his cock twitch as I trail my lips down the column of his throat.
“My cock is yours, baby,” Caleb moans. His neck vibrates as he speaks, and I stretch my thigh further over his waist before rubbing my clit against his hip. “You can have it whenever you want.”
Fuck. I clench my eyes shut and rub harder against him, desperate to take off the edge. Caleb knows how it affects me when he says his cock is mine. It brings out a possessive side of me, and I love knowing I’m the only woman who will ever experience it.
Nobody but me will ever know how it feels to take his cock. To hear him moan into their ear while he drives deep into them. Only me.
“I want it, Caleb,” I whisper. “Please.”
Caleb rolls fully onto his back and pulls me on top of him. Sometimes I forget how fast the wolves are, and I plant my hands into his pillow as I adjust to the sudden change. I straddle him, my knees pressing into the mattress on either side of his waist.
His hard cock presses between my thighs, impossible not to notice even through our underwear.
I grind against Caleb as he slips his hands down my back and cups my ass. He gives a hard squeeze before rolling his hips, pushing his length against me. I gasp, my muscles tensing as he presses into my clit.
“You like that, baby?” Caleb’s voice takes on a teasing edge, and his lips spread into a breathtaking smile before he pointedly rolls his hips again. “There’s nothing better than waking up to the smell of my mate’s needy cunt.”
My jaw goes slack, and my cheeks grow impossibly red as I plant my hands on Caleb’s shoulders and bring my mouth to his. Caleb doesn’t hesitate to take ownership of our kiss, his head cocking to the side before he slips his tongue between my lips.
He tastes so good.
My sex throbs, and I moan into Caleb’s mouth as he slips a hand between my thighs and rubs me over my underwear. He knows exactly how I like being touched, and I can’t help but pant as he circles my clit in smooth, repetitive motions.
“Please,” I beg, needing more.
Caleb’s hips jerk below me, and I hurriedly reach down and slip my hand into the waistband of his underwear. His cock is easy to find, the thick length laying heavy and hard against his stomach, and I don’t hesitate to curl my fingers around it.
He twitches against my palm, and I take my time stroking the length of him before pulling him from his underwear. Caleb removes his fingers from my clit so he can tug them down his thighs, and I take that opportunity to remove mine as well.
Caleb’s naturally smoother than me, but he hardly seems to notice my jerky, wobbly movements as I yank my underwear down my thighs and kick them off my feet.
I settle on him again, letting his bare cock press into my slit.
“Fuck,” Caleb moans as I rub against him. “Sit on my face, Ev.”
Oh. We’ve never done that before, and I curl my fingers into his chest with a nervous giggle. Is he sure about that?
Caleb rubs his thumbs across my hip bones, beyond patient as he waits for my response. I’ve never done that before, but I really want to. I love the idea of sitting on Caleb’s face, of riding his tongue until I cum.
“Are you sure?” I ask.
He nods. “Absolutely.”
Gulping, I inch my way up his torso. Caleb scoots down the bed, making room, before wrapping his arms around my thighs. He looks excited, his cheeks flushed as he licks his lips and stares between my thighs. He’s gone down on me plenty of times, but I’ve never quite offered myself to him like this before.
I peer down at him before lowering, but it seems my movements are too slow for Caleb as he cranes his neck and buries his face between my folds. He runs the flat of his tongue from my entrance to my clit, tasting me, before grabbing my hips and pulling me down.
He wastes no time getting to work, and I hold the headboard for dear life as Caleb licks and sucks at me. I drop one hand to his head with a shocked cry, unable to muster up the strength to do anything else. The tingles from our bond make everything so much more intense, and I know I won’t last long.
It feels so good, and I curl my fingers into Caleb’s messy hair as I rock my hips. Caleb stills, letting me hold his head in place as I work myself against his tongue.
“Fucking use me, baby,” he moans, smacking my ass a second later.
The sudden sting makes me jolt, and I cry out before immediately returning to my desperate humping. I continue using my grip on his hair to guide him, and Caleb takes my direction with ease as he works me over.
I’m so distracted by his mouth I don’t notice him removing his right hand from me, but I sure notice when I feel his bicep shift against the outside of my thigh. I have a feeling I know what he’s doing, and I rock myself harder against him as I peer over my shoulder and see him touching himself.
Caleb works his fist over himself as he licks me. The head of his cock covered in precum, and his hips twitch each time he reaches his tip.
His bicep continues to flex as he strokes himself, his movements growing faster as I approach my orgasm.
“I’m going to cum,” I warn him.
I press my forehead against the headboard and clench my jaw as it builds, and my thighs shake around Caleb’s head as I frantically rub my clit against his tongue. He licks me like I’m his favorite meal, and one look at his wet mouth pressed between my thighs is enough to have me falling apart.
I tense up with a low cry, and Caleb takes over as my movements still. He runs the flat of his tongue against my clit before gently sucking it into his mouth, a deep moan emerging from his throat.
“Mine,” Caleb moans.
Before I can process what he’s doing, he grabs my hips and pulls me down his torso and onto his cock. The sudden stretch of him filling me is shocking, but then the world is spinning and I’m on my back with Caleb above me. He slips his hands under my hips and pulls them up before thrusting into me, his cum dripping onto my stomach with each movement.
I clutch his shoulders, my mouth agape as he drives into me.
He’s so big, and I rake my nails down his back with a loud groan. Caleb’s entire body shivers as my nails tear into his skin, and his abs flex as he rolls his hips.
“Again,” he orders.
I drag my nails down his back again, this time harder. Caleb heals so quickly that I don’t worry about hurting him, and I take great pleasure in how he squeezes his eyes shut and drives harder into me.
I’m so sensitive from my orgasm, and the drag of his cock feels beyond amazing. Caleb was made for me, and I’m reminded of it every time he fucks me. Every part of him is mine, all mine.
Another orgasm quickly builds inside me, and I desperately clutch Caleb to me as I writhe underneath him. I’m so close, and I rake my nails down Caleb’s back one last time as I fall apart. He hisses, and he squeezes my hip so hard I’m surprised it doesn’t bruise before stilling.
It only lasts half a second before he curses and pulls out of me, and I feel a telltale drip as he finishes on my stomach.
“Did you cum in me?” I ask.
Caleb drops his forehead against mine before pulling back and grimacing.
“Maybe a little,” he admits. “I think it should be fine, though. I can smell your hormones, and you’re about a day or two away from starting your period.”
He can smell that?
“I’ll call Greg today and have him send over some birth control,” he continues.
I peer down at my covered stomach as Caleb gets up to grab me a towel. We can’t keep risking this, and I nervously clench to try and squeeze his cum out of me while I wait.
“What time are the Alphas coming?” I ask once he returns to the room.
Caleb glances at the bedside clock. “In a couple of hours,” he says. “Why?”
