November 29th 2018: Progress Report

Hello everyone! In today's Progress Report I'm going to talk about Prison Levels and Riots.

The storyboard and everything for Karryn's Prison is still in the early, early design and planning stages, but for the time being the prison will consist of five levels. Each level in the prison will have a bit of their own theme. And when you defeat the level boss, Karryn will be able to access the next level. Defeating the final boss of the game, which would be the Level Five boss if there are five levels, means you win and can move on to new game plus if you desire. A little sneak peak of what Level One contains was posted in yesterday's Patron-only post.

Each prison level has their own status, and that status can either be: Anarchy, Subjugated or Rioting. Anarchy is the default status of each level, it means the boss for that level haven't been defeated yet, and you're restricted on what Edicts you can enact for that level. Subjugated is when the level is neither in Anarchy or Rioting.

Rioting is a level status that can only happen after a level has been subjugated at least once, aka the level boss have been defeated. Every day there is a chance that a subjugated prison level will start rioting, and the chance for this to happen is affected by what Edicts Karryn has enacted. Normally once a prison level has been subjugated, there are no more enemies to fight on that level. But when a prison level is rioting, certain parts of it will have enemies respawn, so Karryn's job is to quickly defeat them all in order to make that prison level subjugated again. And of course, having a prison level rioting will cause a daily hit to Order, so Karryn better go and beat up those rowdy inmates up!

Onto the personal stuff; I am going to take the next three days off to relax and to study for a bit. On Sunday I got a JPLT N3 test scheduled and I have absolutely not studied at all since work began for Karryn's Prison. I mentioned about taking the medical checkups and stuff this month in the last Progress Report, but I'm going to postpone them until after the New Years, both for financial reasons because of how health insurances works in America, and because I want to relax and not have to feel stressed during December. I hope everyone will enjoy their holiday season, and good luck to anyone else who is also taking the JPLT this weekend!
