Weekly Standup 53

("stand-up" is a term I borrowed from software dev circles - this is a short report on what I've been doing and what I'm planning, intended to keep my supporters aggressively up-to-date. This is not a dev blog post.)

Cover image: Gotta get all outfits working in all scenes.

TL;DR:

Things I got done this week: A gruelling week of  bugfixes + significant progress on automated tests + a bit of illustrating.

Things I want to get done next week: On the technical side, next week will include getting all my source code into a git repo. I'm also going to focus on writing v.0.13; as well as doing a bit of illustrating on the side because I find it relaxing.

Monday - Fixing bugs, after spending all day fixing bugs yesterday. Released v.0.11.public.1 and v.0.12.beta2

Tuesday - Fixing bugs for half the day, then spending the rest of the day on preproduction for future projects (I tried doing some pixel art!) because I was getting pretty burnt out on the intensity of bugfixing.

Wednesday & Thursday - Took most of the days off, but I spent a bit of time releasing v.0.11.public.2 and v.0.12.beta3

Friday - Programming & Writing: Created replacement for the placeholder text when using upgraded read task; created tests that try each possible branch. Fixed a bug that only turned up when doing the heart path after the chains path, thus - created automated tests that can play through more than one path in a playthrough.

Saturday - Released v0.11.public.3 and v.0.12.beta4. Spent time illustrating stuff (eg. the cover image; a WIP of Ari's casual outfit for the laying-down-hscene)

Sunday - Took an extra day off cause I was beat after the week and I promised post-release week includes rest as a priority.

Random blog stuff I'm making you read:

It's a bit strange just how absurdly exhausting I find the post-release bugfix period. And I'm very specific on using the word 'exhausting' there - it doesn't suck, it's not annoying, my brain just genuinely gets very tired very quickly.

I don't even know what exactly about it takes so much out of me - it should be just the same programming, right? I definitely don't find it unpleasant, it's actually pretty neat seeing things improve, and the levels of productivity I reach is off the charts.

Maybe it's just that it takes so much constant focus and my ADD brain can't handle that?

I dunno. Just a weird thought I wanted to write down. I'm not complaining, either, just something that I had on my mind.

I hope you have a great week! :)
