Can you believe it's August already?
No? Neither can I.
I'm currently working on the final arc within Book 4 of The Last Rae of Hope. Progress slowed a little these past two weeks, as I mistakenly thought I would have downtime during GenCon, the largest annual tabletop gaming convention in North America. In my defense... I have no defense. It was my first GenCon, but not my first convention in general. I should have known, being older now, that it would be even harder for me to stick to the schedule as planned.

GenCon was colossal, intimidating... and yet the friendliest people were there, which has since caused me to reconsider attending conventions more regularly. (I stopped going to anime conventions after feeling I wasn't keeping up with the anime flavors of the day). I attended a writing symposium at GenCon that made me honestly feel better about my journey and process. For example, it was unsettling and relieving to hear that big-name authors still get imposter syndrome (so I'll learn to settle in with it as if it were a chronic condition, versus an acute affliction).
Speaking of cons, there is a possibility that a few paperbacks of The Last Rae of Hope will make it to WorldCon next week with bookplates. Fingers crossed!
The manuscript for Book 2 of The Last Rae of Hope has been turned in to my publisher, and developmental edits should start soon. I'll continue to post updates (I'm hoping cover art discussions come soon, that's my favorite!)
Thank you again for all your support. I really appreciate the ability to share my weird world with you, and I hope they bring you, at the very least, a good distraction when our world gets to be a little too much.
