John Wick | Full Watch Along

I finally decided to dive into the first John Wick movie after so many recommendations here and on YouTube during my journey through The Matrix. And when I realized Keanu Reeves was the lead, it immediately shot to the top of my watchlist! Going in, I expected a lot of action (Keanu pretty much guarantees that, right?), but I definitely wasn't prepared for just how much this film would hit me. Emotionally and visually.

John's loss wasn't just a plot device. It was raw, aching, and seeped into every decision he made from start to finish. There was something almost poetic in the way he moved through the world. Each action calculated and precise yet carrying the weight of grief that never let him go. Even in the middle of chaos and violence, you could feel his quiet, haunted presence. You could see it in his eyes. It made every fight and every choice feel both epic and heartbreaking.

The music was INCREDIBLE. You all know how much I love when a movie showcases music at the front and center of its overall vibe and this movie did it perfectly. The soundtrack gave a pulsing, almost hypnotic energy that went perfectly with the cold neon-lit world John navigated on his seek for revenge. It made every fight scene feel like a dark ballet. I was absolutely mesmerized by the color palette, pacing, and choreography!

I went into this expecting an epic action movie, but what I got instead was sooo much more. A dark, gripping study of grief, loss, and the ways we navigate a world that keeps moving along even when we're broken. By the end, I was left both exhilarated and surprisingly moved. This film makes you really sit with loneliness, loyalty, and the ways that dark choices can shape a life. Often in ways you can't escape forever.

This movie doesn't waste any time drawing you in and it never lets up until the end.

Check out "Parenthood " it's a comedy/Drama with a very young Keanu Reeves in it.

Great reaction Kali! This movie is awesome! But yeah, that puppy scene messes everybody up 😭 But I love the world building in this series. The world within a world. The Continental, gold coins, dinner reservations, etc… Looking forward to you watching the rest of the series! Hopefully, the wait won’t be too long Congrats on one year of reactions! That’s wonderful! I wish you nothing but success! And I’m happy to be one of your patrons Hair looks nice btw 😊

This was a good watch. I enjoyed watching your reaction to it. Keanu Reeves did a really good job portaying a hitman. I enjoyed watching the close-quarters combat scenes. His use of firearms seemed pretty legit, like the parts where he shoots from the hips, or how he pulls in the pistol closer when he's in confined spaces. You could tell Keanu spent so many hours at the shooting range. I've always enjoyed watching the John Wick movies, or other movies similar to it. If you want to see more movies like this after you finish watching the John Wick series, I would suggest: - Salt (2010) - Nobody (2021) - Peppermint (2018)
