Be Still | Draft - 1
Added 2024-09-01 20:31:49 +0000 UTCThe title is still a work in progress, if you have any suggestions please feel free to share.
This story is nearly finished aside from the actual ending, so it shouldn't be too long more (I hope).
After this, Infinity Cube Chapter 24.
In this story, Katie ends up becoming a superhero with infinite abilities but finds out there are much bigger fish in the cosmic oceans.
Be Still
“Be Still.”
“What? Who said that?” Katie thought loudly, projecting her inner voice to communicate with whatever psychic entity had made the cryptic command.
However, the heroine received no response, though their words continued to hang heavy in the background of her mind. Reverberating between her thoughts as residual echoes.
“This is going to be a long day.”

Katie Middleton was never meant to be anything special. Most of her life had been spent in the background, behind the heels of giants. She went to school, college, got an ‘ok’ job at her favorite fashion brand which had special licenses with various professional superheroes. Yet, she was simply an average girl who effortlessly blended into the background. Unseen, unnoticed, unimportant.
At least, until a mysterious peddler with electric blue hair sold the young woman a special blend of ‘magic tea’. Katie had refused at first, since buying drugs from strangers is fucking dumb. However, she still somehow ended up walking into her apartment with the tea box in hand.
“You're wasting your tits being a doormat for your mundane reality. Take a new perspective, sow some seeds, cause a little chaos.”
Something the woman said had piqued Katie's curiosity enough that she decided to brew a cup and just take a small sip. If it tasted good enough, then maybe…
The moment the hot drink made contact with her tongue, was a moment of revelation. Quickly downing the rest in one scalding swig. Katie tried to cough after burning her throat but all that escaped her lips were loud throaty moans, borderline screams of ecstasy.
The flavor was something like lemon but it went so far beyond that. A sour tang that only got stronger overtime, turning into a stinging pleasure that rippled through her entire being. Katie Middleton remained passed out on her couch in a stupor, shuddering periodically from continuous orgasmic bliss for the next hour. By the time Katie had come to her senses she wasn't the same boring girl anymore.
She was Cosmic Kate.

The superheroine had come out to the long abandoned mall on the edge of town after tracking a dangerous villain in her area only to find absolutely nothing. X-Ray vision, thermal vision, even life detection had failed to find her target or anyone else for that matter. Heroes and villains alike had been vanishing without a trace for about a month, yet no leads were ever found. Despite her lack of experience compared to other heroes, she was confident in being able to easily resolve anything she could possibly face. ‘Cosmic Infinity’ simply couldn't lose.
Stepping inside, Katie continued trying out different powers by shifting her body to match alternate versions of herself with those abilities. Still, despite only three years of practice, the young woman had become rather proficient with various power sets and ways to use them. "Bingo."
“Sentience detection found something on the second floor of the mall, probably be the source of that voice..” Carefully, Cosmic Kate levitated herself past the long dysfunctional escalators and over the railing onto an undisturbed dust covered floor. No footprints or signs of life. So what happened to the villain? And what could be sentient but not alive in an abandoned mall? It's not a robot since it uses telepathic communication..

Floating silently through the empty halls, Katie followed the faint signals of sentience detection, though the closer she got the fuzzier the sense became, as if it was being overloaded by something else. “Shit!” The superhero grunted, trying to remain quiet. Disabling the ability was the only option as the fuzziness quickly became a dull droning migraine. Not that it mattered, she knew where she was going now.
The trail had led Katie to an old, dusty clothing store—the only one in the entire building still populated with mannequins. “Creepy.” The storefronts' glass displays were smudged with grime, and the interior was a maze of clothing racks and faceless fiberglass statues.
Phasing through the metal gate Katie felt a shiver run down her spine. The mannequins stood frozen in various poses, dressed in outdated fashion, their blank faces staring into the void. Dust particles danced in the air, illuminated by the sunset; weak rays of dimming orange light that managed to seep through the grit covered skylight.
The heroine hovered deeper inside cautiously. Her eyes scanned the large open space, but nothing seemed out of place except eerie stillness. Katie reached out with her powers again, this time trying to pinpoint the source of the sentience, yet the signal was either gone or just no longer detectable for whatever reason.
“Hello? Is anyone here?” She called out both vocally and a light psychic push, her voice echoing in the emptiness.
No response.
Whatever had spoken to her before definitely did so telepathically. Sentient with no psychical form, at least as a best guess Most disturbingly.. The villain was nowhere to be found, having left no traces after entering the building. Things weren't adding up. Still, there wasn't any real danger. Not for someone like her.
Katie moved towards the back of the store where a cluster of mannequins were arranged in what appeared to be a mock social scene—some standing together as if chatting, others posed in solitary contemplation. Everything about this seemed so off and she couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched.
The hero had a theoretically infinite selection of powers to choose from, and yet Katie found herself at an utter loss at what to try nex-
Suddenly, one of the mannequins to her right moved. Its plastic hand shot out with insane speed, gripping Katie's wrist with a vice-like grip. Her eyes widened in shock as she tried to pull away, but the mannequin held her with ease, the inanimate object remained unyielding despite activating numerous strength enhancement abilities from other realities in order to wrestle her hand free.
"What the hell?" she muttered, struggling to pull herself away from the impossible hold.
All before that soft and bone chilling voice returned to answer the confused hero’s mind. "Normally, I wouldn't bother with a mistake like you.. But you're a special kind of mistake."
She tried to activate her powers, willing her body to shift into one that would allow her to simply phase through solid material, but the mannequin's hand remained unaffected. Panic started to set in as she realized she was in trouble for the first time since becoming a hero.
“Who are you? What do you want?” Cosmic Kate demanded, trying to keep her voice steady.
“The mannequin before you had previously been one of your formal rivals, can you guess who? A few of them used to be heroes like yourself.” The voice responded. “They fell into my trap because they sought order in their lives, so I answered their prayers. Though, I didn't come here for them.”
Katie took a deep breath, forcing herself to think clearly. She focused on her telekinetic abilities, attempting to push the mannequin away without any physical force. The grip on her wrist loosened slightly, and she saw her chance.
With a burst of telekinetic energy, she threw the mannequin across the room; it crashed into a display rack, breaking apart at the joints, its limbs scattering around the floor. To Katie’s horror, other mannequins reacted and began to step towards her in a disturbingly fluid yet mechanical motion, as if they all moved at a lower framerate.
Thinking quickly, the superheroine used her already activated psionic powers to create a force field around herself, forcing the animated statues to halt their advances. “Non-physical forces work against them, so..”
Wait…What?
N-no way..
In an attempt to switch powers… Something.. Different happened. Katie’s blue and yellow super suit vanished and was replaced with a tight tank black top with matching dolphin shorts, hugging her body in a way that felt eerily pleasant. “What?” The girl blinked in disbelief, having attempted to give herself the ability to teleport.. But it clearly didn't work.
“I've taken the liberty to tweak your attributes. Swapping powers with other versions of yourself across the multiverse has caused untold damage and has been a major thorn in my side.” The voice's annoyance was stark and very clear.
“No!” Cosmic Kate yelled, the psionic barrier holding the mindless puppets at bay already beginning to crack. Instinctively Katie attempted to switch powers in order to reinforce her shield-
Instead, her new shorts slowly grew down her legs as the fabric changed molecular structure into that of ordinary pantyhose, stretching over her skin. A soft “Oh!” escaped Katie's lips in response to the buzzing pleasure coming from her new outfit.
Her top rapidly unraveled until it vanished into nothing, leaving Katie's upper body entirely exposed. Meanwhile, the pantyhose did very little to hide the fact that she no longer had any underwear. “I'm sorry! I didn't know!” Katie cried, holding her arms over her admittedly large chest in shame.. Even if it somehow turned her on to be so exposed.
“Your intentions mean very little to me. Though, things are shifting in the omniverse and I need higher quality employees .” One of the mannequins spoke from grinning shiny black lips on its otherwise featureless face. The lips then shifted to the mannequin next to it, causing it's motion to suddenly stop; standing up straight and smiling directly at the defanged heroine. “You’ll stay here and gather more void energy until you're ready to hire.”
“Yes Madame.” Katie said calmly before realizing the words that had slipped out of her mouth, foreign and submissive. Her heart hadn’t stopped pounding, but now it was just a faint distant, muffled beat. The mannequins surrounding her went limp and hunched over, yet their heads never facing away from Katie; each one conveyed a hauntingly silent, predatory anticipation as they waited.
“No… this isn’t… this can’t be happening,” she whispered to herself, trying to regain control of the situation. But each time she reached for her powers, the sensation of clothing shifting on her body was all it resulted in, the oddly-familiar buzzing of pleasure seeping into her mind even stronger than before. Pink rubber panties clung to her thighs, smooth and tight, reminding her of just how vulnerable she had become. Her arms slowly lowered to reveal the matching latex bra forcing her breasts to form a line of cleavage as it compressed itself to her chest. If breathing became harder, Katie hadn’t noticed, she couldn’t think about breathing. She had to do her job?…
“You see, Cosmic Kate. Until now, you've been too unpredictable, making tracking you pin down an honest nightmare.. But now… Now you’re simpler. Far more manageable. You can only swap clothes and accessories; Isn’t that much more fitting for someone like you?”
Katie felt a surge of anger at the mockery, but it was quickly drowned by a wave of euphoria as her outfit reformed into a one-piece bathing suit. The psionic barrier flickered, and she knew it wouldn’t hold much longer..
“You can't do this!” Katie gasped, though her voice lacked the conviction it once had. She tried to summon any remaining strength to fight, to find a way out of this situation, but instead, her thoughts spiraled, scattered by the constant pleasure from surging her altered outfits. As if the clothing itself has been charged with a form of sexual energy she hadn't felt since receiving her powers..
The lipped mannequin chuckled, causing a low, rumbling that reverberated through the empty store. “There are very few things I can't do. Besides, this is a blessing Katie, I've brought you back to order.” It stepped forwards, causing the barrier to completely crumble. The entity walked right up to the frightened girl and in a moment of compassion, pressed it’s lips to Kate's in deep embrace.
Katie’s legs wobbled, her balance faltering as outfits blurred across her body, filling her with a surge of blended pleasure strong enough that it urged her to kneel. Yet she remained standing as her future boss moved back, the mannequin posing with one hand on its hips as if to admire it's work.
Work, that stood perfectly still in a mirrored position. Plastic, white, featureless, and still shifting through outfits though at a much slower pace.
“I have a feeling you may end up being exactly what I needed.” The Goddess whispered to herself before her lips teleported to the mannequin that had only just recently been known as Cosmic Kate.
“Oh- This does feel good… Much better than I expected.”
