Valentines from Hell - Thumbnails and the 1st take

Hi guys!

It has been a pretty intense time for me spent on con preparations and some exciting personal stuff I'd love to reveal once everything is set in stone! On top of that I'm working with the printhouuse on a reprint that hopefully will include improvements to the print that couldn't have been done before, and maybe this time satiate my perfectionism.

In the meantime I tried to carve some time out to actually create something and I got stuck in a little thumbnail hell to figure out the composition that could work for the next goodie bag print!

This time, since I was out of my home, I worked in a small sketchbook. What you see above is a compilation of a few pages. Even though I really like the take you're going to see in a second, I feel like I'm going to give it a second try and improve on some o the designs and overall feeling of the piece~

This is the bare bones version that I've decided to play around with and add some value digitally. Here's how it turned out~

I feel like this version is more legible at a first glance than the unedited one. I'm not sure yet if this is going to be the final version but once I'm done with the 2nd take we will know~ I think I'll explore the demon lord design more, making him look more sharp and burly 👀

I love the play on overwhelming scenarios in which characters are being possessed by multiple creatures. Slap a size difference on top of that and I'm home~ Usually I just go for a scenario in which the the human is the smaller one compared to the monster but in here I went both ways - the demon lord is the big one who hands Filip over to his smaller imp minions to have some fun on Valentine's Day~ Don't you think that just because you're bigger they can't fuck you up! 😈
