As you may know we flew to London to meet up with some of our friends at the London Film and Comic Con.
As suspected, the even itself wasn't very geared towards our interests, though we did get some cute stickers and keychains and there was a delicious vegan donut stand. I men, the donuts were delicious, not the stand 😅
We finally were able to meet with Beth Ramsden, a fellow YouTube creator, and her lovely husband Craig and their daughter. We also met Alice with Kawaicoredolls and had lunch with Nina from Sky the Golden One who we collabed on dolls in the past. It was such a blast! We met a lot of other peeps too but I don't want to just list everyone. We tried to take pictures with everyone but alas, there was so much going on! We just chatted non stop with people for the two days, it was a blast.
All of this of course happened in front of the Smart Doll display at the convention. I met Danny a few weeks ago while in Japan, and this time Alex got to meet him too. We talked shop and future plans and there's really exciting stuff happening both for them and for us and maybe in collaboration but it's all so fresh that some wrinkles need to be ironed out. We were super lucky and we're able to take another girl home - pear Liberty, who is just beyond gorgeous and I will love her with every fiber of my heart. We also got to see the coffee doll! She's gorgeous 🥰
There was one table dedicated to community brought dolls and this time we decided to bring Penelope with us. We wanted to maybe bring two dolls but we were worried about carrying them around and the digimon didn't fit in the suitcase 😅 but she was very popular! It was so fun to see people who new nothing if Smart Doll be drawn to the tables because they recognized Pen. It was in general cool to be able to introduce newbies to SmD (I had a lovely chat with a British gentleman about them) and see people with disabilities come up and see them being represented on beautiful vinyl dolls.
We definitely want to get out of the house more now that we had such a positive experience! If you have any events that you'd like to see us, drop some recommendations. Unfortunately the US events are a bit too expensive for us right now, especially as we don't have any products to make up the cost of renting a table at a con, but we will be working on cooking something up to be able to vend in the future as well.
X's and O's from rainy London!
