The Kingswood Amelioration - Chapter 13

Comments

Once again I am way behind in keeping up with the new chapters. In light of the delay, I can only offer this quotable quote: >> He [Josh] suddenly stopped and frowned as he asked, “Wait, what was I saying?” Mark stared blankly at the constant subject change and said bemusedly, “I… genuinely have no idea!” << Cheers.

You done us dirty with that cliffhanger, Matt! ha! Can't wait for Friday to roll around.

I hope your health will be better soon. There's so many things to talk about, I ended up forgetting to talk about Rob and Milo. That's unfair of me because, like you said, what Milo did for Rob was very good. I agree with everything you said about them, and I might as well use this space to expand on that a little bit. Rob has always had image issues, so that whole thing from Milo about how many guys want him is very helpful. I love Milo, so it's great to see him giving me a reason to be proud of him. And it's nice to seem them being friendly again, Rob not reacting when the guys Milo is having sex are his own friends is good progress.

This is probably shorter than I would normally make it, but health issues once again rear their ugly heads. Well, the story would be unrealistic if there were no problems in Mark and Josh's relationship, so I guess we should have expected things to happen there. I still love them as a couple, and I hope that whatever detours happen, that they still end up together for the long run. I am proud of Nicky for facing everything Matt-related in this chapter. It shows just how much he has worked through his grief. I agree with the others that we still don't know Nicky's punishment. Mr. Stone may be difficult at times, but I don't think he is cruel. What a cliffhanger the break-up with Gray was, though! Always nice to see the twins show up in the story - Chris's siblings are all great. I hope both do end up at Kingswood. They'd be great additions to the school. Finally, my hero of the chapter is… MILO! His conversation with Rob gave Rob plenty to think about, and we get a glimpse of the younger Milo who absolutely adored his older brother. He built his brother up, which is the way siblings should act. It was gratifying to see their relationship back on solid footing. The Wilson family is probably my favorite family outside the Davies and Smith families.

Yeah, I could also see Mark breaking up with Josh at some point... Hope that's just temporary. And yes, it's a big improvement for David, travelling alone in a train full of strangers. This book is really "amelioration" (I still can't spell this word properly...) for many MC boys.

I already talked about Nicky breaking up with Gray in another chapter, so let's get through the rest of Nicky's story first. As I said, I don't think Mr. Stone's call is related to the break up, but I'll add that Gray not texting him may be. I simply think Mr. Stone is a reasonable person and anything in that area would be way out of line. It was nice to see how much Nicky has progressed that he's capable of packing stuff in Matt's room, but I imagine this situation still has some difficulties for him. And it no longer being Matt's room will feel more real once Jorge actually moves into that room. We'll surely see that on the Christmas break and I expect it won't be easy. Josh and Mark were the main pair of the episode. I thought Mark's explanation in the previous chapter would have helped reduce Josh's jealously, although not eliminate it. But it may have actually gotten worse in this chapter, Mark was literally just talking to a random straight guy. And he's even demisexual, he has no interest in people he doesn't know. Like Mr Luigi pointed out, Gray will probably lean on Mark for support after his break-up, which will drive up Josh's jealousy. I could see this storyline leading to Mark breaking up with Josh after he keeps saying he'll change and not managing to do it. But that can then finally be a wake up call for Josh, leading to an eventual reconciliation without the jealousy. Meanwhile, Mark started off making me proud with the way he came out to someone outside the safety of Kingswood without even realizing he was doing it. That's a big step for someone who spent two years on the King Edwards School for Homophobes, or whatever it's called. But then he had to disappoint me too by kissing his boyfriend's father, which is messy. Despite them settling things up, this will probably come up again, but I don't know where it's leading. I would have liked to see David's date with Tyler, but I get that there's probably space reasons to omit it. Plus it will probably be more compelling to show them together after they know each other a bit more than now. I liked that you didn't forget David's agoraphobia, which rarely comes up nowadays before they're fine in Kingswood. But traveling to a new place on a train full of people they don't know is a very different story, I like that inclusion. I expected a scene of Chris getting caught wanking, but it being by the twins was a surprise. It's actually a way of showing how much they've grown since the start that they clearly know what was going on. Not that Chris' explanation was any help, lol. From the timeframe mentioned in this chapter, they'll be KIngswood when Chris and Danny's mentees become mentors. That will be fun to see, even though it will only be for one year. I'm going to place a bet now that Chris will be Aiden's grand-mentor and Danny will be Cian's grand-mentor. Edit: I can't believe I forgot to talk about Rob and Milo, but Rich already covered it very well, so I'll just leave a few thoughts in a reply to him.

I have a new thought: When Nicky and Gray really broke up and when we consider the extreme jealousy of Josh: Gray is Marks best friend ans they did some sex stuff together. So this might be a new issue in the relationship of Mark and Josh...

Mr Luigi

From the timing mentioned in this chapter, they'll apply next year, which means we'll only get them at Kingswood during our main cast's final year before the story presumably finishes. But it will be great, even if short.

Davide

I guess that Chris's little twin brothers will both go to Kingswood after they reach the necessary age. It would be so cute and cool to have them both there 🥰

Mr Luigi

That is true, but it seemed Nicky was doing okay when going through his brothers belongings and then the phone call

Shannon1493

Nicky broke up with Gray!? Never... there is properly a misunderstanding i suggest....

Mr Luigi

I'll comment more later, but I had a sudden thought about Nicky breaking up with Gray. While the chapter's structure initially made me wonder if it's Mr. Stone's punishment, I think there's no way he'd do something that cruel to Nicky, and especially not to his son who didn't do anything wrong. There's also Gray not texting Nicky for multiple days, but that one may be part of Nicky's punishment. So I started to think about what else happened that could cause this, considering Nicky and Gray seemed happy together so far. The only other thing that happened to Nicky in this chapter was him being forced to deal with his brother's death in a more direct way than before. Which made me wonder if there could possibly be a connection. I have one idea, but it may be a long shot. We know Nicky was in love with Matt, although he never told him that. And I'd expect identical twin brothers to have similar personalities too, to some extent. Plus we know Nicky and Gray have pretty similar personalities to each other, that's what made them initially connect. What if Nicky concluded he started dating Gray because of his similar personality to his own was a subconscious way for him to date someone similar to Matt? Then maybe he could feel that breaking up is necessary to continue to progress on moving on from his brother's death. Edit: It wouldn't even be the first Nicky broke up with someone for reasons related to needing to emotionally heal from his brother's death.

Davide

Well, as I have said, it seems to be a long way for Josh to overcome his jealousy. I guess I'll give my vote of the quote of this chapter to this: “How about if I try coming to the gym again and lay under you, then you can squat onto this!” Josh said as he pushed his small erection into Mark’s hole. It's nice and funny to see Milo advising Rob about his relationship. Well, finally, about Nicky, I've commented about the "punishment". I don't really think breaking up with Gray would be the punishment. Maybe it's the other way around. Nicky found that he couldn't deal with Mr. Stone so he thought it would be "better" to break up with Gray? BTW, I just read another story about a boy dealing with fallen (identical) twin. I just couldn't imagine how it would feel.

Johnny Kape

Yeah... it's cruel and fucked up if the "punishment" to Nicky is really asking him to break up with Gray. I don't really think that Mr. Stone is that kind of teacher or father (I thought it would only happen where I come from?)

Johnny Kape

Did Grays dad really do what I think he did and made Nicky break up with Gray as his punishment?, that is a really fucked up thing to do if correct
