Not enough of my yammerin'. Let's boogie!

As I noted in the most recent Quibi post, my October rewatches of Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist (85/100) and In My Skin (74/100) were preparation for a podcast appearance on The Unwatchables on which both were discussed. That episode is now up. My guess is that many of you haven't seen either of these films, and I'd recommend both to anyone with a suitably strong stomach. (Sick features unsimulated acts of very cheerful masochism, most notably Flanagan hammering his dick to a board, while In My Skin gets just plain gross, though I hope that's all fakery—the podcast gets into why I'm no longer certain.) Both are digitally available, though In My Skin's streaming on a bunch of platforms I'm unfamiliar with (Philo, Darkroom, Midnight Pulp, etc.). Or you could listen to me rave about 'em and then decide.

Since this post is essentially just a plug (albeit not really for my own product), here's another nerd-group exchange (from 25 years ago!) that amuses me. (R.I.P. Bryant.) Ignore the Kotter reference, which was in response to my calling someone else Horshack for a reason not worth getting into.

It's a lot, but it's also a masterpiece.

I watched the NIN video 3 different ways before I felt comfortable enough to watch it normally: with my glasses off and from a distance; with the speed cranked; and by skipping through it at regular speed. After watching it normally I realized that it's not that bad. But the doc sounds insane.

and you’ve now become someone I feel (at least jokingly) comfortable calling an art-damaged snob.
