Liora's Price of Dignity 0.1.0-prerelease-10

Liora's taking shape more and more! This week, I rounded off the remaining [NOT IMPLEMENTED] scenes on the masturbation events, although there isn't all that much more text here as I expected I would write. Mostly because of the modular natura of the Liora scenes.

Besides the masturbation content, I also expanded on Rean's side quite a bit. He now has a story character scene that I think triggers on the night from EARTH- to WINDAY (since I moved Garrick's scene now to MOONDAY.) Rean will now also react to Liora's character changes in form of small reaction scenes that either trigger in the morning or when talking to Rean if the change happened during the day. The new scenes also add new relationship losses due to Liora being forced to lie about the reason for her changes.

I generally didn't make quite as much progress as I wanted to, but that's mostly because our freelancers who had been quite a bit behind have been delivering quite a lot this week and I was mostly busy integrating their work or helping to iterate it.

Most notably our artist deniis for Liora. He was quite a bit behind in July and promised me he would invest more time in August on working on his commissions and he certainly delivered on his promise! You already the new costume and hair style character art assets which have been integrated into the game. He also managed to update the Rean Date scene already, so now we are now back on schedule for getting the base amount of artwork I had planned for the 0.1.0 release. I think we might still be behind by maybe 1 costume and 1 hair style but I think that much delay is tolerable.

When playing with old saves, I think they should be mostly compatible with the only issue being that you may or may have inconsistencies with Liora's hat. Lol I had to separate it in the game logic since some assets support having a hat while others don't, making the whole logic more complicated.

The last two days I have also spent quite a bit time doing some test playing, fixing out some balancing issues here and there and also generally fixing bugs along the way. There are probably still quite a few there but step by step.

Talking about balancing, I think the most important one is the addition of the new passive "Attuned". When going on dates, they now add the Attuned passive to Liora's dating partner, increasing their relationship for the purpose of teamwork skills. This way going on dates with Edgar allows Liora to attune with him and let him make use of Teamwork skills. On the other hand, going on a date with Rean now has some combat relevant gameplay effect to boost his interaction with teamwork skills even further.

I also added the Explorer difficulty. Originally I wanted to wait on this to avoid diluting feedback on the Normal difficulty, but considering how many are used to playing SKA on Story Mode, that may not be usefull anyway. Liora will probably not get a Story mode like SKA due to the mechanical nature of the game - e.g. if enemies are too weak to trigger clauses that react to Liora getting KOed, advancing on the corruption route could become more difficult which wouldn't be the goal of this mode. So I mostly focused on extra Gold / EXP gain and reducing the speed at which Rean's Treatment Costs increase.

Next week, I have a semi-vacation, so there won't be a lot of output on my side. Besides doing some networking at Gamescom I will mostly be preparing the steam / itch store pages.

Something that I noticed is if Liora has to wear the low cut outfit then sometimes it doesn't appear on the character model but "you just started" making this fresh off a... "banger" for lack of better words. :) Also it doesn't appear sometimes on the dates with Edgar or in cut-scenes despite filling the criteria necessary for it too but this is still in the development so i shrugged it off but took note of it. Also for the record. I'm loving the Liora a bit more than Aura just because "we are both rich" and she's a bit more relatable to me but compared to the people I've met in "my life". Edgar should be "cheating harder" but I know it's still in development but Edgar could have Liora wear itchy undergarments that prevent her from taking a turn or make her walk slower, make Liora wear the low cut outfit if a certain amount of enemies are or aren't defeated, he could also buy off the guy who sells the rations (or anyone for that matter) to make it whereas if you don't have "Edgar's gold" then the guy makes an excuse that he has to sell it to the villagers nearby or something. Another idea that I had is if Liora loses or Rean does or they don't then Liora has to sleep with Edgar or spend the night out with him to prevent you from clearing areas too fast. Funnily enough, after recently playing an Aura ironman play-through, an idea came into my head about the deal Aura made with "Edgar". (Coincidence? Hmm-mm :) Liora should get a tattoo, a ring or necklace that punishes you for not talking to Edgar or using his money. (So i guess if you could split the gold you get from Edgar from the gold you make on your own IF THAT"S POSSIBLE) I'm just shooting some ideas that i thought about and I don't know if I'm preaching to the choir here or these sound like bad ideas.

art is good, but SKA art was quite nostalgic for me. It would be quite good here too with some adjustment.
