2025-04-13 05:49:42 +0000 UTCI knew I was going to enjoy your take on this show! Of course it is a sci-fi show but, as all good sci-fi does, it tells something about our current society. I find really interesting to see a show which deals with the philosophy of work. Most of us have to work to be able to survive but the notion of work itself considerably changed these past 200 years. It is refreshing to deal with that particular topic while having a great mystery show. I think you nailed it with two words you used to describe their work: cult and dehumanizing. I won't develop that now but keep that in mind. I also loved your comments about the wellfare session: it brings a little of the outside world inside. The innies have no idea what outside even is. There are of course no window in the severed floor to isolate them even more from the outside world. In the beginning you noticed the discrepancies about Irving saying he worked at Lumon for 3 years whereas before he hinted he has worked there all his life. But there is no discrepancy. Even if it is only 3 years, from the perspective of his innie it actually is his whole life. He didn't exist at all before arriving at the severed floor for the first time. It is severely messed up... And finally I love the symbolism of these very long corridors and all the turns they have to make to go to the work room. They are literally in a labyrinth. So we can ask ourselves: if they are the sacrifices, who is the Minotaur?
