Survey! Should Weekly Debrief have its own channel?
Added 2019-01-04 16:01:00 +0000 UTCHi friends!
I'm thinking about making some changes to Weekly Debrief (the weekly roundup of LGBTQ news), and wanted to get your input.
Right now, Weekly Debrief appears on my main YouTube channel, alongside videos and livestreams about queer entertainment.
I'm not sure if people who subscribe for queer entertainment are interested in the news, or if people who subscribe for news are interested in (for example) analysis of Pee-wee Herman.
I'm thinking about moving Weekly Debrief to its own channel focused exclusively on news. That way, people can subscribe to just the kind of content they want to see. If you want entertainment, you can subscribe to Matt Baume; and if you want news, you can subscribe to Weekly Debrief. And if you want both, you can subscribe to both.
Would you like having two separate channels? Or do you prefer it the way it is now -- entertainment and news on one channel?
I'll be checking the results in one week, so vote by January 11!
And thanks again for your support on Patreon!
Matt :)

I like having them together. For me, having all the content in one place makes it easier to keep up on someone's work. However, if the news content was separated out I'd really like to see more in-depth news videos.
2019-01-05 02:25:44 +0000 UTCIt makes sense to me to have the Debriefs on their own channel, one that only focuses on news. I think it may help you a bit SEO-wise and may attract subscribers who are only looking for that sort of video. If someone wants to keep up with what you're doing, they can subscribe to both channels (as I would) or, support you here on Patreon.

2019-01-04 23:11:48 +0000 UTCI enjoy the Weekly Debrief but I also enjoy your other content about queer culture and history. However I don't watch your live-streams or Sewers of Paris. I manage to find what I'm looking for on your channel as it is so I don't see a need to change things, at least from my perspective.
2019-01-04 23:08:37 +0000 UTCHonestly, I have no opinion. I "enjoy" both programs, even though enjoy isn't the right word for the Weekly Debrief. Thanks for both the Culture Cruise and the Weekly Debrief. I love that I have the opportunity to learn about a topic that helps me be a better ally and creator.
2019-01-04 20:19:19 +0000 UTCI like it all on one channel, but I have read the YouTube comments where people complain that the debrief is not Culture Cruise, which... I don't know what to tell them. I've been watching your channel since 2015, and I think your channel does a great service by navigating political issues AND media/culture together because it shows how our media has changed in its historical context, but also it shows explicitly how everything is political and connected. It flies against the common complaint by the dominant culture about "making things political," and I think that's expressly important right now with world politics being what they are. I understand how some people may not like this reality, but I don't think splitting your audience will ultimately help. The most common complaint with the weekly debrief is that you don't list the sources in the video or the description, which I do think may help, but I honestly love the debrief as it is. If you do split the channels, I'll watch both and I'll still be a patron, but I think keeping it as one would be better so that people who only come for the camp have to also wrestle with the facts.
2019-01-04 18:37:40 +0000 UTCI think I feel the same way Craig does. I don't have a problem being subscribed to both if you decide to separate them, but I think the whole package is valuable and don't think it needs separating. I see your other content as still very educational, just not usually focused on current events. I see learning about the past and how the present is being effected (or not) a good balance and useful for understanding issues better.

2019-01-04 17:53:38 +0000 UTCI voted to keep because I'm used to your channel having a mix (so it's kinda your "brand" for me), but I'd be fine if there were two channels (I just wouldn't clamor for it).
