I'm Sorry (where I've been and what's next)

Hey everyone,

I want to be upfront about what’s been going on. I’ve had a long hiatus from development due to struggles with time management and productivity. I know I promised monthly updates and demos, and I didn’t live up to that. I want to clarify that my absence wasn’t due to health issues—I’m perfectly healthy. It’s more about how I let productivity issues spiraling down into avoiding the project altogether, which I regret.

During this time, I was scared to be online and face any feedback or messages about the game. I kept thinking about what people might say, and that fear made it even harder to work on the game. It’s my first project, and the attention and expectations have been intimidating.

I’ve been thinking a lot about why I want to do this, and despite the challenges, I’m excited to get back to it because it’s something I genuinely want to complete. I’ve learned that facing criticism and feedback is part of the process, and avoiding them only makes things worse.

I understand that some of you might feel deeply disappointed. I’m truly sorry for breaking my promises and not keeping you updated as I said I would. I’m not asking for forgiveness, but I am committed to showing you that I’m back on track. I can only earn your trust back through consistent progress and updates. I’m starting to get back into a productivity , and I’ll share what I have soon. I’ll keep you informed and make sure to communicate if any issues arise, instead of disappearing again.

Also, I used GPT to help me with this message because I’m not always confident in my English. I apologize if it’s not perfectly clear.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I have left negative feedback in the past but it was mostly out of frustration. This is a very good game and I want to have more of it. I just don’t like the way the struggle mechanic works lol

Thank you so much. Your message means a lot to me. I appreciate your support and am really glad you’re looking forward to the game.

I'm going to take a very wild guess and say that f95 is the "intimidating feedback" you mention? Because if yes, you should really, really pay 0 attention to feedback on this website. It is a great website for players, but horrible for developers, genuinely 90% of the feedback received there is toxic and worthless, and I say that as someone who works in the video game industry. It might be tempting for you to think that if 90% of the feedback received on this website is negative, then it means you did a bad job, and once you fix their complaints then they will support you. The reality is totally different. First, most well-educated people do not write negative feedback, they simply see the potential of the game and immediately support you, occasionally saying something like "it would be great if you could do X or Y" for their top 1 feature request, but we see this as a privilege, definitely not as a demand. On the other hand F95 idiots demand you to share the game for free and listen to their complaints until the game is finished, but this is an abusive work relation, not how the real world works. F95 users receive their salary monthly, even if their job is not finished at the end of the month. Yet, they expect you to not have the same expectations smh. (Granted - a lot of F95 users are probably unemployed, given how precious they are of their $). Second, there is a saying that if you want to make money, it's important to make the right product, but it's especially more important, to find the right customers. F95 users are worthless customers. They are going to provide you 10x more negative feedback than the average player, and will give you maybe 1$ as a reward for the hours you spend listening to them. In the meantime, there are more reasonable people (usually Patreon supporters) who understand that making 400$/month -presumably what you get on Patreon- is an INSULT of a salary compared to the video game industry (an intern in my country would get 1800$ / month, and that's including taxes...). Most of us give you money to keep you motivated and not just for the benefits. F95 users will of course, call you a scammer for "abusing Patreons" or other nonsense, but again keep in mind they are people who literally demand free work. If you try to please them as customers then you'll just end up bankrupt because they'll never give you a cent even if you listen to their complaints. This game, even as of 0.13, is absolutely awesome, and seeing you back is one of the best news of 2024. Of course it has some minor problems (surprisingly few, actually), but the gameplay is great, the creative vision is great, and the initial update frequency was frankly out of this world, I'm not surprised you didn't manage to maintain it.
