Mugen Train Movie or Episode 1 of Mugen Train Arc first?

I posted a similar poll up on our YouTube channel but wanted to also throw this poll up on here to see what you guys think on how we approach this next arc. Feel free to explain why in the comments but please please avoid spoilers as I will read the comments.
We will try to follow the poll results but if the reasonings in the comments for the other side are compelling enough, we will follow those. Thank you!!

But if I had my way I would say just watch episode 1 and then the movie. It makes more sense chronologically and I don’t think you’ll lose any emotional impact. The mugen train arc has plenty of emotional impact trust me!!! I’m just excited to see the reaction honestly 😳😳😳🤯🤯🤯

2022-04-27 21:08:24 +0000 UTCI feel like some of the YouTube commenters are confused because a lot of the comments were talking about S2 episode 1 “spoiling the movie.” Lol what? S2 episode 1 takes place before the movie, chronologically. It spoils nothing. I legitimately think some of the YouTube commenters, when they heard “S2 Episode 1”, thought we were talking about episode 1 of the second arc in season 2. Aka the arc AFTER the movie Mugen train arc…Obviously that arc spoils the movie because it takes place after. So I suspect people were just getting confused by what “S2 episode 1” meant since there are multiple arcs in s2. On Patreon there seems to be a lot less confusion lol

Then after episode 1 you should watch the movie. then skip episodes 2-7 (because those episodes are just a repeat of the movie in show format) and pick back up on episode 8! Sorry if my paragraph was a little confusing lol.

Personally I had appreciated the first episode even more, then if I had been able to watch the first episode before the movie. Linearly, the first episode does come before the movie but honestly for full effect, I'd do movie first. Trying to be as vague as possible!

So If you want to watch the first episode for further context of the situation their going into, then sure go ahead and watch it first. But in the end it won't ruin or take anything away from the movie no matter what you choose to do. :)

2022-04-27 16:54:29 +0000 UTCi suggest you watch the first episde before starting on the movie. i honestly wish that 20 minute episode was just a part of the movie to begin with. i genuinely believe it will make the movie better and i wish i had the oppertunity to watch it prior to seeing the mugen train movie. i don't feel super strongly about this like a manga purist or anything, i just feel like you would probably agree that it fits better before the movie in the event that you end up saving it for later and go back to it after the movie. The good news is that whatever you choose will not change the fact that this arc is amazing. hakuna matata. enjoy

And don’t forget: the Mugen Train movie became an all time absolute hit, a milestone, by beating Studio Ghibli’s “Spirited Away” in box offices and after more than 20 years. By watching the movie first you can probably share and enjoy a little bit of that atmosphere.

2022-04-27 15:59:56 +0000 UTCi agree with what many have said. even though the vote is clearly going the opposite way, i think you should watch the movie first, just as the studio intended it, and just how everyone else experienced it. we all watched the movie first, and then that episode was like a little treat and brought more meaning afterwards. it's like watching the original star wars and THEN the prequels to appreciate it more. idk why more ppl are voting for you guys to watch them opposite the way it was intended tbh
