Sushi Squad, We Hear You!
Added 2022-09-27 16:13:02 +0000 UTCHello Sushi Squad~!! 🍣
Michelle here 🥰 I wanted to hop on here to let all of y'all know that we've been reading all of your comments on the last update post and as uncomfortable and hard as it was to read everything, we understand and empathize with how everyone feels.
We never anticipated for the growth of our community to be this big and fast, and it's HUGE thanks to y'all 💜. With that being said, managing two growing platforms and a video editor, juggling filming, upload, and livestream schedules, all while balancing the rest of our lives and work - all of this is still pretty new to me and a constantly changing process that I'm figuring out as we continue to grow. But our only wish is to continue to do better!! So please be patient with us as we gather your feedback and work on being more consistent with our uploads 🙏🏻
Some of y'all suggested that we record videos ahead of time. We've actually have been doing that. In fact, we have about 1.5 weeks of videos in our shared drive with our editor at all times. However, our editor has been editing each video close to our upload date and sends them the day we need to upload them. Ron and I talked with our editor this morning and are now asking for all of the videos in one week to be sent over the week before. This should help us avoid any delays as I will be able to schedule all posts for the next week!
Again, we are so grateful for all of y'all and for having patience with us as we continue to learn how to scale. Our only ask is that we continue to keep this community a positive one. So while we always welcome feedback, we kindly ask to refrain from negative comments and arguments amongst each other. I am still human, and I get affected by harsh words and negativity 😞 Please remember, we are always eager to understand how we can better improve everyone's experience here, so if you have feedback please don't hesitate to message us.
Love y'all and we hope y'all are doing well 💜

I hope everyone is doing well and thank you guys for all your work so far and for being open to feedbacks (whether it be good or bad ones). I just hope that in the future, if there is some sort of dissatisfaction among the crowd, that they would think about what they would want to say before saying it because constructive feedbacks are always welcome (straight up mean ones? nah.) and I hope you guys do not feel the pressured to have a standard daily schedule too, as you are uploading almost daily + keeping up with your discord, livestreams, ft work and personal life. It may take a toil on you guys as the patreons will have expectations for the schedule that you've set and would look forward to it. I really do want you guys to enjoy your shows instead of seeing it as a deadline even though this is considered part of your job. But having you guys being able to enjoy the show with us is really what matters (well at least to me :) Find the schedule that fit you the best, explore your options when you need to. I've seen some other reactors who've uploaded a 2-3 eps in one video too which prob lessen the amt of edits with the intro, discussion and ending being placed tgt, and it gives you more spacing in between each uploads. While it is important to seek improvement from constructive feedbacks and cater to some of your Patreon expectations , I believe that it is just as impt to find a rhythm that works out the best for u guys! and with more time and experience, you'll be able to add on more stuff that when you're ready to. sending lots of love to everyone <3

2022-09-29 16:07:37 +0000 UTCOG CROW! I support what ever upload schedule, you decide. You both are multitasking much. (With everything that has happened in the last couple of months.) Real ones will understand, and realize this. Stay up lifted! Michele & Ron!

2022-09-28 23:20:31 +0000 UTCDon't worry. For the most of us it doesn't matter when you guys can upload them. As long as we can enjoy your reactions of our favorite shows, it's all that matter. I'm mostly subsribed to encourage you even more. Keep it up. No biggy we are chillin over here ! :^)

2022-09-28 10:47:32 +0000 UTCDouglas, theyve 3k patreon supporters. If the majority of those were really being impatient, this comment section would be a shit show. Its fairly obvious by the fact that there arent 1500 people giving them shit that its the minority.

2022-09-28 04:59:07 +0000 UTCI have been here for awhile now and I'm so sorry you had to read those negative comments. most people commenting those things would not be able to juggle all the things you guys are. you two both work and have life that happens on top of handling two major plat forms I don't know many people who do all three let alone someone who can do it perfectly. you two should be very proud of how far you have come and how much you two have learned from this experience. life is not always easy and we all should know that everyone has had a bad day, things get thrown at us unexpectedly. no one is prefect so don't over work yourself to try and meet that standard. The Sushi Squad will always be here through the up and down you will always have family here with us.

2022-09-28 03:42:09 +0000 UTCI think this response was super cool and showed a ton of integrity. Some of the commenters here are being way more sensitive than Rice and Ginger and they're the ones actually receiving feedback. Seriously, most of the criticism has been constructive and fair. They released a schedule and people pay money for that service. It's not a hard contract, but of course there's going to be some feedback left when services and money is involved. Patreon isn't a charity and the reactors aren't treating it like one. They probably really want to know what people are ok and not ok with. I'm sure they want to both maximize their earnings and strike a good work/life balance. This is the data they need for that. There are so many white knights on here signaling their virtue for no reason. I really don't think they'd prefer their patrons to just drop like flies and have no clue why.

2022-09-28 01:55:56 +0000 UTCI totally understand the hard situation, but I wanna give a little advice, If you guys go full time(and I think eventually you will), the ultimate solution to this delayed upload is to edit the videos by yourself. It's not that hard and I think we as your supporters are not looking for many special effects, as long as we get a full reaction then its all good. Of course more editing is required for the YouTube uploads, but if you go full time it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

2022-09-28 01:50:37 +0000 UTCyes but the argument of most angry patreons is that they are paying to have a consistent schedule but the schedule remains the same either way for youtube viewers who aren't paying. so you can have complaints about production delays towards the channel in general but you can't really use patreon fees as leverage. that's just a shitty thing to do people aren't going into their patreon thinking "oh I will sub at this tier because their Patreon states 3 videos/week." they get the same privilege from just watching it regularly from their youtube channel. people are here for early reactions/community support. so to argue with payment as leverage is just wrong. they are just frustrated with the delays in general which is fine but, to use payment as an argument is straight up wrong and shows that they are just impatient.

2022-09-28 01:10:16 +0000 UTCYou have a life like I do outside of this so I'm unbothered if videos are "late". I'm fine whenever you post tbh! I just love to hear your commentary & banter. Don't be hard on yourselves though, you're doing excellent!

2022-09-28 00:38:14 +0000 UTCI’m surprised there anything negative I mean it happens it’s life and I wish we had more but that’s just the joy you bring with every upload. Waiting patiently and hope all is well

2022-09-27 23:08:13 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, that's easier said than done, but it sounds like toxic comments aren't a common occurrence here. Patreon (and the internet in general) can get real nasty real fast, so I'm glad this place is generally a positive one.

2022-09-27 22:26:27 +0000 UTCI’m not upset at them but I 100% see where everybody is coming from. You say they “look towards the casual side” but they say all the time how they would like to do this full time, which isn’t casual. To do something like this full time takes time and effort and every Patreon counts, so the people (not you) who are telling the Patreons to just unsubscribe if they are going to complain are actually doing more harm then the people complaining about inconsistency as it’s losing them customers. And to the schedule perk comment, yes, they do in fact have a schedule listed in the tiers list. So if somebody does subscribe then they should be receiving the promises that they are paying for. Without being consistent then they wouldn’t be able to accomplish their goal of reacting full time. All of the comments are helpful to both parties, the patreons who will be happy and stick around for consistent uploaded as well as R&G who will have a consistently growing fan base that will allow them to follow their dream. Even the negative comments are necessary

2022-09-27 22:18:13 +0000 UTCyou should probably note that this isn't their livelihood, it's a hobby and they have responsibilities outside of reacting to anime. this is more of a hobby for them . i think patreon has a wide scope of creators and some like rice and ginger are looking more towards the casual side of things and more towards the community aspect. if the community demands "give me the promised dosage at fixed intervals" it becomes less of a community and more of a business environment. either way I am not surprised there is a group of anime viewers that are socially inadept to differentiate the two. and you should note that regardless of whether you pay or not, youtube uploads still get delayed either way which is why I always saw patreon as an early access perk, not a promised schedule perk.

2022-09-27 20:59:11 +0000 UTCAppreciate you guys always being open with us, and even if the minority is being impatient (and is sometimes the loudest) -- rest assured we're all ready to watch the videos when you're able to present them. It's not going to hurt anyone if the schedule is an estimation. That being said, as you guys grow, naturally those delays may cause concerns with newer members. So, if you guys turn this into a full time thing then it could always be worth getting a second editor as well. Just food for thought! Hope you guys are doing well and wish you all the best!

2022-09-27 20:43:56 +0000 UTCThere hasnt been a single uncivil complain the only toxic ones are the mfers replying to the complains sucking off R&G and bashing the complaintee

2022-09-27 20:42:24 +0000 UTCat the end of the day, you know yourselves best and people who appreciate your genuinity will stay. Would rather quality uploads from you guys anyway! Thanks for taking the time to address these things. Must not be easy but nothing truly good ever comes that way. Looking forward to another episode :)

2022-09-27 19:51:37 +0000 UTCThere isn't a take here, besides "patience is good". You can't say it's a bad take that "people have real lives too and have to balance it." That's just life, and is 100% the truth. People to have the right to comment about a service they pay for, but I see no bad take either.
FreedObject
2022-09-27 19:18:01 +0000 UTCI think you guys provide some excellent content, and while it can be easy for some to get emotional when there is constructive criticism to be had towards a content creator that they enjoy, if the message is constructive then that's okay. I think the biggest argument I saw was mostly semantics, whether or not the comments were "constructive" or "entitled". But there were some solid suggestions in there, and it is clear that you guys are always looking to improve your channel and content and the experience for everyone, and that's great to see. Keep doing what you're doing !
FreedObject
2022-09-27 19:14:14 +0000 UTCI'm sure it's both, as sometimes they have missed a deadline or two. That said, it doesn't justify being mean. You can complain while staying civilised

2022-09-27 18:20:14 +0000 UTCPlease don’t take it too seriously. While they are somewhat valid complaints (in an extremely inappropriate post to say), Shit Happens. I honestly don’t care about a fixed schedule. I paid more for the early reactions and to show my support but that’s just me. And it’d be a shame if the negativity, stress, and lack of community support of the channel affected the reactions and more importantly, the experience of the show itself for you guys. Quality over quantity guys! <3 <3

2022-09-27 18:12:16 +0000 UTCWhat a bad take. People pay for this service. If they can’t support a service they created and people pay for then that is 100% on them. I personally don’t care very much but others do and have every right.

2022-09-27 17:51:57 +0000 UTCWhoever is anime-only, should know about patience. These guys are doing their best to balance their real lives and patreon. Its not an easy task. Michelle and Ron, you guys rule!🤘

2022-09-27 17:13:15 +0000 UTCYou guys are doing your best and that's what matters. A couple late uploads shouldn't be a big deal. Some people just need to practice patience and understand working hard to be consistently putting out great content isn't that easy. Thank you and your team for all that you do for us cant wait to see what the future holds for the SQUAD! 💙🍣

2022-09-27 17:08:51 +0000 UTCI'm not here often. Is there a schedule they not meeting, because if that's the case then it is valid for patrons to be upset as patreon is basically a business. If it's just guys wanting more than a normal offering and outside of the normal schedule, then definitely ignore those and look to the positive.

2022-09-27 16:59:22 +0000 UTCI would like to see things from both sides of the topic, but I also wish people would understand that things come up all the time. I understand we are paying to see videos released before YouTube, unedited, but ultimately there are situations that are out of everyone’s hands that we need to be patient with. Hurricanes, illnesses, pre planned trips, family, etc. y’all are human beings. You can only do so much. Are there countermeasures you can take? Of course and you’re already doing it by requesting vids a week ahead. I would personally also have a backup editor just in case the first one has technical issues but regardless these are first world problems on our end and frankly, even if it is therapeutic to us to watch y’all - we will still live if you’re a day or a week late. I hope we can all get along without creating chaos in the comments. Especially on update posts. I’m sure y’all are starting to dread even posting updates because of the backlash but ultimately y’all are doing great with keeping communication open and being honest about the reasoning (which ultimately you don’t even owe us an explanation but I digress) Keep up the good work and energy guys! Idk about anyone else but y’all have legit been there for me more than my own family (especially in direct messages when y’all knew I was going through a rough time) - y’all are doing a great job in creating a wholesome community. Hopefully we can continue to protect it on our end (peacefully and kindly).

2022-09-27 16:58:13 +0000 UTCMuch love, you guys are worth the wait. I assure you, there is FAR more love for you guys than the opposite. Be safe, be responsible. And you guys do your best. Anyone who is upset about inconsistency when it comes to people who do this ON TOP OF OTHER JOBS, is insane. We support you on Patreon because we believe in you, I'm not paying for consistency, I'm paying to support to creators who have a great attitude, and are very open with their community. One I'm glad to support for the long haul. Keep up the good work guys. <3
