And another fact is, Ymir was a mindless titan for 60 years, and she woke up from her 'titan sleep', after eating him - that's pretty much an given statement, that he was a Titan-shifter aswell.

Do you remember AOT S1E01's scene that after scout come back to wall maria and commander shadis bring one arm and give it to soldier's mom and said that is only what they can bring back and cried out scout's mission has failed?

Eren just ended up responding very seriously and looking basically depressed, which makes sense considering everything he's been through at this point. Getting lost in revelations and questioning his own role in everything. It would make anyone not be themselves for awhile... But now! When Jean tried to get a rise out of Eren here, it worked! And I honestly love it! Despite the rivalry between the two, I sometimes forget that they both are friends and even Jean cares about Eren in his own way lol. To the point he tried to make things feel normal again by butting heads with him 😅

So the intro is designed sorta for the peeps who are excite to see the manga come to life, and less for 1st timers.
