I feel like with sarcasm, it’s a combination of how well you have to know the person, and how outlandish the sarcastic statement is (the more outlandish the more obvious.) Plus how fast that person can pick up on social cues in general

Like many things with Japanese culture, depends on the context of the people you’re talking to. If you try to use sarcasm with someone you don’t really know and/or older than you, it can be considered rude. But they definitely do have sarcasm, I don’t think it’s used as often but I’ve heard two people talking and some comedy anime’s use sarcasm as part of the joke.

Some countries in Asia like Japan, most people don't get sarcasm and would turn serious if you spoke sarcasm to them but those who are expose to western culture like young people may get it.

Ron, Im curious what you think of Mereoleona. I know you like fire abilities based characters and so do I :p I love how overwhelmingly strong she is with the one spell of concentrating crazy amounts of fire magic in her fists and using her super refined mana zone technique to bulldoze her way through her enemies. If you've got one trick, make sure you're the absolute f-ing goat with that trick xD P.S. I've been exposed to sarcasm in India but I've been bad at catching it, growing up and in high school and college so I watched TV shows and youtube and stuff and got better at catching it. But funnily enough now, I can catch sarcasm if it's not from my Indian friends but I still can't catch it if it's coming from my Indian friends 😂 They're just so non chalant with it and don't go all in to the sarcasm, just sprinkle a bit here and there xD

Honestly, watching this episode changed my life. 😂 A strong woman character in my typical shounen story? Hell yeah, let it be more likely than I think from now on. Not every culture has sarcasm or employs it for jokes like you said; apparently Japan is one of those places. The closest thing Japan has to sarcasm is noritsukkomi. Also, some neurodivergent people can't interpret sarcasm (like autistic folks).

I’d imagine sarcasm is a thing everywhere But it would be used differently based on where you live. It’s the same here in America to someone from New York may use sarcasm differently from someone in like New Jersey but have a manner of speaking in common because of being on the east coast it the concept when it comes to dialect and “slang”
