Just to clarify some misconceptions in the comments, yes, elves have more mana pull than humans but Julius isn't a regular human licht clearly said so…

The petite clover is almost as bad as the HunterxHunter preview song 😭😂 About the citizens just standing there, those swords of light were moving at the speed of light, but Julius stopped them right before it hit everyone and everything in the kingdom. So, the dude who eye was right in the sword, he got saved in the nick of time! 😂 When Michelle said "the wizard king is gonna die" way back at like...episode 20 or 30 something, I started choking and laughing. Like okay, you got a sharigan, ma'am?!

2024-11-26 17:02:08 +0000 UTCLicht and Julius were going toe to toe and were pretty evenly matched, with Julius coming out on top by a bit even. And Yami and Licht were kinda evenly matched too. .... Until Licht released his sealing spell. If you remember, even in the cave, the sealing spell on Licht was released and he released so much magic that even Yami was like nop I got no solution for that. He released the seal this time too before hitting everyone in the kingdom with the light sword spell. For Licht it's like his original power as an elf was released, but for Julius to counteract that he had to push himself to his literal limit and maybe even beyond that, and use up all the time and magic he had stockpiled. It kinda makes sense that after that clash, Licht still had more in the tank to kill Julius with.

2024-11-26 16:10:02 +0000 UTCJust for reminder, Licht was defeated by reflection of Gauche's mirror. That was literally the best counter that could ever happen to him. Also in general, Licht is the elf prince (you should know that already from the flashbacks). Elfs are generally superior to humans, Licht as the Elf Prince in his full power would be much stronger than Julius, but with the power he had now, he could still match Julius. He got him by a surprise though, weakness of being a good person.

The speech and thoughts of Julius was really well-executed, his backstory, the scenes with Zara, how he was inspired by one of the best character backstories in BC, how the change they’re working on in this society along with Asta and Yuno. Even the fights, story, his grimoire reveal, and their conversation are high quality. “I am the Wizard King” “Your only weakness is that you are Wizard King” Btw I think it’s safe to watch the openings now, it’s very hype in this arc.

Think about how powerful a time reversal spell is, someone could blow up the entire planet and Julius could reverse that outcome. It's just the diversity of what type of magic is being used and why Licht was fine after the attack compared to Julius.

Julius is definitely stronger as he couldn't kill Licht since he was using William's body and Licht attacked Julius while he was casting magic to protect the citizens.

2024-11-26 09:46:52 +0000 UTCSo I think what happened is as Julius was focused on stopping the mass attack, he couldn't finish it in time to defend himself because licht used his magic in two ways, one as a distraction and then while he was using that he used one of the swords from it to attack Julius, so he didn't need to cast another spell, he just switched to manual mode =P lol

Licht also naturally has more mana than any human due to being an elf. I don't think Julius necessarily ran out of mana or magic either, rather he just used all of the stored time he had, so he still had magic left, but just not any stored time, which would make the attack fatal, and he got hit by the attack because he was in the middle of using the spell, making him unable to dodge.
