2025-03-20 07:09:02 +0000 UTCI get what your saying about the Maki/Kashiwagi scene, but tbf... that was just the opening of the smash-cut-sequence as they show us where every character is leaving off for the season. If you pay attention to the sequence, they kind of show us all of the major characters, starting from the least important. The only one who isn't in the sequence at all is Hayasaka who, fitting to how she was introduced (and usually used in the show), she gets a private scene with Kaguya where we get the honest-to-god feelings of what happened from Kaguya.

But the mix of comedy and a bit of mystery quickly drew me in, and after just a few episodes, I was hooked. Even now, every season’s finale still moves me to tears. I think this series has set a really high standard for romance anime, and it’s easily in my top five of all time. By the way, I’m not sure if anyone has told you this, but Oshi no Ko and this series actually share the same universe. I don’t consider this a spoiler, but you’ll see characters from this show appear over there—including the cheerleading captain from the sports festival at the end of season two. In the manga, Kaguya even makes an appearance, though her last name is no longer Shinomiya.
