I personally believe Meruem "changed" because he knew the fate of his body. So he wanted to spend what remained with her. If he had no poison in his body, I think he wouldn't have changed this much.

Now that it's not a spoiler anymore (and I don't know if you guys already know, if so, skip this comment, lol), the matches of gungi that Komugi and Meruem were playing was a simmulation of what happened at the palace invasion. The whole "the king must be separated from the others pieces (the royal guards) to assure the win" is the evolution of the Kokoriko play, that she created and then he used against her just to be countered (exactly what happened with the bomb. The win was 100% assured to the humans even if Meruem survives the fight against Netero, after being separated from the royal guard, and the explosion from the bomb). And even in the details, like your quote, it happens. This arc is a true masterpiece.

2024-03-23 02:50:37 +0000 UTCYeah, In Welfin's head, he tried to recall back when Pitou and Pouf had some discussion or anything that has been discussed among all three Royal Guards. Because of whatever Welfin called "The King Behind The Scene" that he tried to be, collected all information and connected the dots, ended up saved his life. PS. When Meruem started to remember Komugi again, Pouf also felt it since they've share their mind and body. That's the biggest punishment to Pouf, someone who even offer his own life to keep his King on the way of Chimera Ant domination, ended up losing all his purposes. I bet it's worse than death.

2024-03-23 02:20:32 +0000 UTCit makes sense that youpi died first - he was much closer to the explosion while pouf was scouting the area. and i do sort of agree with ron but from a different pov - it's not that they slowed down meruem's death, but with them only having a portion of their cells hastened theirs even more than normal (im assuming they already saw the reaction since it comes out tmr lol)

But he's one of my favorites out of this arc, he adds so much drama and pressure to the events, making every moment and dilemma more stressful and for sure being the most loyal royal guard out of the 3, the only one who truly cared about the species and the king's initial role, to rule. Where the other 2 ants were more loyal to the kings new wishes and changes of mind. Thanks for all the added suspense Shaiapouf.
