It's like if all 50 states had an 18+ rule but the national law was 13+; the 13+ gets trumped in all cases. There is nowhere in Japan that sleeping with people <16 has been legal for a very, very long time. They did really need to get that on the books nationally though.

I would say you’d have to have an open mind with MDUD though, since they’re teenagers. The same way Food Wars is lol. Except not that constantly inappropriate. Side note: I hope y’all recreate some of the dishes you really see on the show.

Excessive tropes, stock characters, power of friendship, fan service, pervertedness, inappropriateness, etc etc. Ultimately, it's up to the viewer to decide how much anime bullshit they wanna put up with to get to the parts they enjoy. Food Wars has buckets of anime bullshit, but beyond that it's still pretty fun, until the last few seasons imo.

But the thing is with Food Wars, it’s still worth watching and is a very entertaining anime. From the story, romance & characters, I enjoyed everything about it except the over the top & repetitive fan service

So I'll just say that, I believe you are pretty much spot on about the fan service. I do believe that the show would be better without the fan service, or at least appeal to a larger audience. However to that, I say : "A product for everybody is a product for nobody." Therefore, I think Food Wars is fine the way it is. -From a "non-fan" of Food Wars.

But even though that is very much the case in this show, it actually doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would just because it is so deliberately over-the-top, comedic, and ultimately just a metaphor for how the food tastes. Still can be difficult to get past, though.
