No, the thing about staying conscious isn't new. And it's not necessary for the people to stay counscious. It was told in 1st season, that by staying conscious the people used energy, the energy they took from the 'stone', therefore it was making the stone weaker and more vulnerable to Nitric Acid. So people like Senku who counted for the whole time, made the stone so weak the Nitric Acid managed to break after this exact time, not longer.

2025-10-18 02:47:17 +0000 UTCIt’s like the very first episode, senku and Taiju stayed conscious and thus were able to break out after roughly 3700 years just from diluted nitric acid. The revival fluid is Nital, a more concentrated form of nitric acid that Senku invented himself. So if you’re unconscious, or you get turned back into stone, the revival fluid works obviously, but normal nitric acid won’t. That’s why at the beginning of the season Dr Xeno was so confused why Senku had so many people, he doesn’t know a revival fluid solution existed or was possible. Albeit he didn’t try.
