He actually doesn't have any patience for kingly duties that come with the crown. He just wants to defend his family and the crown from outsiders.

IMO i think he isnt writing back because there is no progress being made at this time and he cant just leave just because some women said he is going to die there. also i hope she is not under the impression that daemon EVER wanted the throne. he has never shown any interest in getting the throne, like even the arguyement with Viserys in EP1 he didnt really care about being the heir, he was more upset about not being named hand of the king. Daemon literally does everything for the good of his family. Whether its a good idea or not is another conversation lol.
