and what makes it even worse is Marlene was completely aware that Joel and Ellie formed a bond with each other well before any of this happened. Joel also knew Marlene as the leader of the Fireflies ever since his brother Tommy joined years ago, meaning she was probably aware he lost his kid as well.

I honestly believe it after seeing this. It’s almost like she wanted to die?? I mean, you basically BRAGGED about how ‘capable’ Joel was? And then you piss that very same Man, off?? Did you forget that he is much older than you and survived for over 20+ years, in one of the WORST kind of apocalypses?! Dayum. She is stupid.

I think they should've had a conversation with Joel beforehand and at least let the man say his final goodbyes. He was under the impression that they would just draw blood from her and create a vaccine that way. They didn't even offer any compensation for what he did even though he was promised to get weapons and supplies prior. He traveled 3k+ miles across the country with her and they didn't even let them have a final moment. Had that happened, it's possible that Joel would've let them go through with it. Instead, Marlene decided to handle this situation in the worst way possible and even threatened to have him killed if he attempted to intervene with the surgery. Yes, what Joel did was objectively immoral but the fireflies instigated the entire situation from start to finish.
