Swordtember Day 27 - Redemption

Devil’s Deliverance

Weapon (longsword), legendary (requires attunement)

Forged in the fiery pits of the infernal realms, this blade once belonged to a nameless devil knight, a loyal servant of hell. However, during a cataclysmic infernal invasion upon the mortal realm, this knight, for reasons still shrouded in mystery, defected to stand alongside mortals. Recognizing the knight's unexpected turn, the Saint of The Dawn Lord entered a sacred pact with him. The devil's blade was sealed within a divine scabbard, ensuring it could only be drawn with the saint's blessing. Yet, this was not a mere act of restriction; the sword was imbued with the Dawn Lord's Flame of Origin, transforming it into a weapon of unparalleled might against fiends, the undead, and all creatures of malevolent intent. Though the reasons for the devil knight's defection remain unknown, he wielded his reformed blade with unyielding fervor, clashing against his former kin until his final breath.

Sealed.

While sheathed, you can still use the sword as a longsword, but it deals bludgeoning damage instead of slashing. Additionally, when holding this sheathed sword, you gain +1 to your AC.

Fiendish Foresight. The sword vibrates when fiends or undead are within 60 feet of you, even if they are behind barriers. Additionally, you emit a 15-foot aura that causes fiends, undead, and evil-aligned creatures to have disadvantage on attack rolls against you.

Dawn Shield. When a creature within 30 feet of you that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d10 + your proficiency bonus.

Unleashing Hell. If the sword detects the presence of fiends or undead, you can use a bonus action to break the seal, unleashing the sword's true form. The sword reseals itself for the next 24 hours if used to harm a creature that isn't a fiend, undead, or of evil alignment

Unleashed.

While unleashed, you gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. The sword deals slashing damage plus an additional 1d8 radiant damage on a hit. Attacks with this weapon have advantage against fiends, undead, and evil-aligned creatures. Additionally, you also gain immunity to fire damage, poison damage, and the poisoned condition.

Sacrificial Smite. When you hit a creature with this weapon, you can expend one hit die to deal an additional 2d8 radiant damage to the target, plus another 1d8 radiant damage for each additional hit die you choose to spend.

Fiendish Bane. Once per turn, when you hit a fiend or undead with this weapon, you can force it to make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of you until the end of its next turn. This feature ignores the creature’s immunity against frightened conditions.

Dawn's Descent

"By my deeds, I seek atonement, by this blade, I prove my devotion. Dawn Lord, lend me your hand, let the Flame of Origin purify this land!"

Each time you slay a fiend or undead of CR 3 or higher with the Devil’s Deliverance, the sword absorbs a fragment of their malevolent essence, gaining 1 charge. The sword can hold a maximum of 10 charges. Upon reaching 10 charges, the sword's hilt glows with a divine radiance, signaling the awakening of its hidden power.

As an action, you can invoke the Dawn's Descent, expending all 10 charges. The skies darken momentarily before a brilliant portal to the Dawn Lord's domain appears overhead. From this celestial gate, a radiant arm, a manifestation of the Dawn Lord itself, descends from the heavens, its hand wreathed in the pure Flame of Origin. The arm strikes a targeted area within 60 feet of you. All creatures within a 20-foot radius of the targeted area must make a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, creatures take 10d10 radiant damage and are blinded for 1 minute. On a successful save, they take half damage and aren't blinded. Fiends and undead have disadvantage on this saving throw.

After using the Dawn's Descent, the sword cannot gain charges for the next seven days, as it needs time to recalibrate itself.

----------------------------------

To be honest, this concept of a sheathed and drawn weapon having two different sets of features was supposed to be for Metamorphosis, which is next. But because I'm quite stuck with this prompt and this is the only concept that clicked in my head, you'll see a similar type of feature twice >___<
