Early sketch for an upcoming scene. Like I mentioned in the stickied update I'll be posting all sketches for the Landlord tier starting in February. Not all of these make it into the game as we work out the flow of a scene and getting just the right angles highlighted.
Next Patreon update is in two weeks. In addition to a new training scene and a new bar scene I've also started working on defiance route story. This includes being able to sleep in the safe room bed to avoid getting watched over by IO all night, new shop items to advance the story, new scenes triggered by shop items, and the ability to give npcs items (you wont lose them if you give the wrong item). I want the game's alternative routes to be opened up by seeking them out with a little bit of adventure game mechanics.
I'm still planning on doing a brewery mechanic to actually brew the drinks used at the bar, but I want to have proper art to go along with those mechanics. Now that the game has a proper Android port I have to consider how some of the UI I'm building will be impacted by a touch screen. I'll be playing around with mechanics to allow for both touching/clicking on an option and a keyboard keybind. My mind keeps going to some of the gauges you would run across in Myst (if you ever played that) to control the temperature, mix speed, yeast amount, and pressure. It's lower priority for now as getting the story fleshed out is more important.
On that note, a bit of details on the story pacing: Currently everything happens very very fast, in my opinion. I didn't want to release the game with a tun of empty space and busy work so everything happens very quickly. Now that much of the story is in place I'll be slowly expanding the economy and the corruption process. I never want it to be a grind or waste anyone's time, but I also don't want every corruption milestone to happen so fast. So much of that is just tightening the bolts and building some story scenes to place between training to keep everyone excited and to avoid long stretches of nothing happening.
