Here is a News! post ๐ฅณ I'm going to show you a quick summary of the process I'm using to create a decorative mantelpiece:
1 - Firstly, I need an idea! ๐ When I find one, I draw a general shape with basic measurements to have a global idea of what I would like to create.
2 - When I think the general shape is good enough, I re-produce it in Shapr3D.
3 - Then, I decide what depth I give to each little piece until it creates a complete 3D model which I import into Blender.
4 - In Blender, I'm adding as many details on edges as possible, while keeping the number of polycounts reasonable and preparing the file to be compatible with Sims4Studio, the game obviously, and Substance Painter to create my textures.
5 - In Substance Painter, I'm baking the mesh and then scrolling Pinterest and many other places online to find texture inspirations.
6 - After several days of work, I have now created from scratch 33 different textures.
7 - It's time now to create a custom thumbnail and create in Blender a version of the mesh with fewer polycounts (It is not always possible). This time hopefully I was able to reduce the number of polycounts from 4976 to 3293 ๐ฅณ
To finish the CC, I have now to set up all the tags for each 33 swatches, create every single slot for small, medium, and large decor, play-test the new file in-game (and correct what needs to be corrected), and finally create every preview images needed for each platform (Patreon, my website, Instagram, Pinterest, CurseForge, etc...) to let you all know that a new CC is available.
