What's new this week?
Paddles
I've been working hard on making the next video, ๐ Drag & Drop! It's going to be a demonstration of how to make different elements using DragonTode (which is what I'm currently calling the visual language).
You can now finally pick colours and ranges of colours! And you can use them to paint/place cells in the world!
I've now started making the 'paddles' that will help you keep the colours organised. You can slide them in from the left of the screen, sort of like trays or drawers. And on these paddles, you can... make rules... or keep a collection of your favourite colours!
You can also 'lock' a paddle, by putting a little pin in it. The pin keeps it in place and stops it moving! And by locking it... you 'lock in' whatever rules you've drawn on the paddle. Locked in rules start to happen in the world... in front of your very eyes!
There's still a long way to go with the engine! But we're getting closer :)
Tadpoles and Reeds
I've been restructuring the video so that it introduces concepts in a clearer order. One major change is that I'm going to introduce 'cell-splitting' before we get to 'colour ranges'.
Currently, these are the elements (in order) that we'll make in the video (and what they'll demonstrate):

Sand (using a symmetry)
Water (using 'or')
Tadpole (splitting a cell)
Seed (using a range of colours)
Frogspawn (changing a colour)
Reed (using a stamp)
After I've made the video, I hope to re-implement these in ColourTode, which will be the text-representation of the visual language! I've been drafting up how the elements will be written in ColourTode, to make sure everything works ok!
