TODEPOND TIMES: 99

Hello and welcome back to the weekly...

🐸🐦 TODEPOND TIMES 🐸🐦

What's new this week?

99 Froggy Heroes

We hit 99 patrons!

Well... the number fluctuates a little bit as payments sometimes bounce. But there are currenty 99 froggy heroes! This means that nobody else can currently join the patreon! It's full.

I genuinely can't believe this. Back when I started with one silly video, I never would have guessed what would happen! Words can't express how thankful I am for you all being here. So I'll do what I always do when words aren't enough... I'll make a video!

A while back, I made a video about the πŸ… Top 9 ways to make Sand. As promised, I'll now make a video about the πŸ† Top 99 ways to make Sand (to celebrate).

So here's the plan for the next 3 videos:

🎡 Arrows in Arrows in Arrows
πŸ† Top 99 ways to make Sand

Stay tuned!

99 Flappy Heroes

Like I mentioned, nobody can currently join the patreon, because the tier is full.

So... I've introduced another tier! Flappy Heroes! It's Β£2 instead of Β£1, although patreon does still moan at me for making it so low.

If you pick it, you get a bird in the credits, instead of a frog. And you'll be in a very tall Tree of Fame instead of the pond!

You might want to stay as a frog, or you might want to change to a bird - it's up to you! But be warned, if you leave the Froggy Heroes tier, someone else might nab your spot.

By the way, I also updated all of the colours for frogs + birds! They now use a freshly-tweaked palette, and there are more colours available! To choose a different colour, head over to the colour page for your tier! (Froggy Heroes or Flappy Heroes)

99 Signals

Hey, I've been working on the next video too!

To prepare for some potential 'very deep' layers of arrows in arrows in arrows, I've been speeding up my engines. To test it out, I made some squiggly star-like spirals.

These were good for testing out performance because: It's made by drawing lots of points in a line. And each point's position affects the position of ALL the following points. Just one small change higher up can affect things massively further down.

The main issue isn't calculating those positions. It's figuring out what has changed since last time. Every point says to itself, "Have the higher-up points moved? Do I need to figure them out again? Or can I just use the previous value?"

To let them figure this out quicker, I've made the points 'skip over' pointless checks that it doesn't have to do. Instead of checking the whole series of points again and again, it skips upwards to the very top. And you can still control each point individually.

We're getting closer to some arrows in arrows action! I'm really looking forward to it.

Like I said earlier, I can't thank you enough for sticking with me and supporting my projects! I really wish you the best this week - have a great one! And see you next time.
