I arrived in Paris late on a rainy afternoon. When I arrived from the parking quite far away I was totally wet, my travel bag, the little suitcase in which I transport my camera things, my clothes... everything was dripping wet. I had to unpack everything and lay it out on the three beds with which the lousy hotel filled the lousy small room and I wasn't really in my best mood when Katlyn arrived.
But she is a sunshine. Her smile is infectious.
I already wrote that the room was too small to take a distance to take images even with a normal lens of 55mm or I would have shot only details. The walls were yellow. I could not use them for reflecting an indirect flash and the little bit of light from the lamps in the room produced a color that I was not able to correct. I guess they used a mix of normal bulbs and those so-called energy-saving lamps (those that thanks to containing mercury and being of short life contaminate the world even more than the normal ones while giving terribly cold and "incomplete" light, but obviously the producers have very good friends in politics...).
Well, anyway: white balance doesn't help in this case, and filtering later in GIMP wouldn't produce satisfactory result either. So I decided to shoot in black and white at high ISO (6400).
I really tried to concentrate and make he best out of the situation. And - giving myself a pat on the back - I must say that I achieved some images that reflect the special moment and that I'd hang on my wall.
In other words: i am very happy with the results and I hope one or the other of these images finds your love, too.
