the journey begins... snapshots in Chartres

After 10 days in Basel with my mother I finally started my trip. I  headed for Paris over the highway. There wasn't a lot of traffic on the  highway, but close to the city the street filled up and finally I stood  on the highway between thousands of cars...

The hotel was  announced "with parking" - that's actually why I have chosen that  hotel on booking.com, but arriving there the maximum height of a car allowed in that parking was 1.6 meters, mine has a bit more than 1.8...

So  - searching a parking in Paris. I found one, for 80 Euros for 24 hours!  But what could I do? It was the only one within reasonable distance to  the hotel, and if I would have found one outside of the inner city I  would have spent the same or even more money on taxis.

Of course,  as almost always, it was raining in Paris. Maybe that's why it's the  city of love - when you look out of the window and just don't want to leave  the bed?

Right when I came out of the parking with my suitcase  containing the camera equipment, it rained as if they would be emptying a  giant bathtub over me and the rest of the city. Within minutes my clothes were wet up to my skin. I  reached the hotel just five minutes before Katlyn arrived there, too  (she had already arrived in Paris the day before).

You have already seen and read in the series I uploaded here what we did that night and the next morning...

After taking the morning photos on the balcony and after having a nice breakfast we went for my car to drive in direction to the west.

My  plan was to take the small roads and, if we see a nice spot, stop and  take some photos. That's why Katlyn did not wear any underwear and just a  light skirt that she could take off on on in a second.

But my  plan did not work. It took a long time to get out of the city and even  when Paris officially ended, in fact it never ended. The city changes into town and the tows are melt together. One doesn't notice when one ends and the next begins, except if you look at the signals. There was simply  (almost) no landscape, just streets, buildings, cars, electric power  stations, and if there was some landscape the background was either  completely boring or ugly, but not ugly enough to be somehow  interesting.

We reached Chartres, a beautiful medieval town with a famous  cathedral (you might have seen the barefaced photo of Katlyn that I took  inside).

When getting out of the car I thought it was a nice occasion to take some nasty snapshots - and here they are.

Tomorrow I will upload the series I photographed of her in the simple hotel room I found in Chartres.
