Q&A: May 2024

Hey, everyone! We are back with another round of questions being answered. As always, thanks to all the patrons who submitted a question!

Let's get into it:

1) How long have each of the current main couples been together?

AUSTIN: Serpaz and Laivan were cemented as a couple when they were six sweeps (~13.5 years) old! That's remarkably young, though Repiton very much promotes a "if you're close to them you're stuck with them forever" kind of mindset. Tazbion, Jenthmas and Ellceus got together officially a bit later, at around six and a half sweeps (~14.5 to 15 years). Dismas and Murrit probably happened a decent bit later, around when Murrit resigned from his position as Dismas's "boss". Albion and Sova, which we know started more recently, likely happened within the last pass (1 year).

2) Will older panels ever be revised to sync with the modern art style, or do you guys prefer to have them in their original state as a little capsule of history?

EDDIE: It's really not in our current plans to come back to the older panels. For one, we just don't have the manpower to spread if we want to keep our current projects chugging along, and like you said, it's actually kind of nice to be able to look back at earlier pages and see how much the comic has matured since then. That's just part of making a webcomic! You gotta learn how to live with the fact that it's going to take a LONG time to be done and your skills as an artist will definitely grow with it and BECAUSE of it. And the older panels are charming! I'm personally still fond of them.

3) Is there anything that can be said about the Iopara ancestor at this time?

EDDIE: We'll have to keep it hush hush for the moment, but you might be getting a little snippet of Iopara Sr. in the near future... whenever we get around to putting the WTT archive together.

4) How did trolls during the Renaissance usually unlock alchemy in comparison to trolls now? Are there any other ancestors with alchemy we should be worried about?

AUSTIN: Alchemy is a long-spanning thing on Repiton, it just wasn't revolutionized until the decon-recon eras. We'll be getting into how it was utilized back then in the near future! And while I won't say which ancestors, there are at least two who were involved in alchemics well before the end of the Renaissance.

5) Any facts about Seinru or Edolon?

HEATHER: One of Seinru's biggest things outside of the cult is gardening and working with plants, some nice, others not so nice. Their home has a large garden that they maintain and use to create new hybrids and raise all kinds of things. He does have a strong interest in working with plants that are considered dangerous, but he always kept the garden very pretty.

Edolon has always I think struggled to find things that he can really call his own. I'm sure he's gone through various on and off little things that catch his attention, but being so busy and otherwise mentally occupied has kept him from really finding something that sticks. Anything he has now he mostly absorbed through Seinru.
