Hey!
Hope you're well! Here's the latest update for the Bloodborne piece - working up placement on all of the bosses and the eventual looming hunter and background elements. I'd say the hardest part of working on this one so far is the sheer amount of detail that each boss has to them - not to mention the often vague reads they had to their structure, which is great for the game's atmosphere and horror, but difficult when attempting to depict them!
I'm using a grayscale approach initially to block in these characters and following that up with color and then a paint over of the whole thing. If you watched the previous video where I walked you through Draygon's process on the Super Metroid piece, it's a lot like that but with more soft round brushes. Once this one comes together it's gonna be a really intense amount of detail work, but I think it'll look good. I'll be working from front to back, stacking the elements one by one before completing the entire thing.
So far, the most difficult aspect of this image has been Laurence, it's very difficult to make out exactly how the face is supposed to look and even more difficult to make lighting work in such a way that it really pops how I'd like. But, now that I has most of Laurence worked in, I feel pretty good with how it he's looking - thankfully the others have well defined models!
Also, I included a small process gif of how I went about constructing and working through one of my Magic the Gathering cards that just released, Draugr Necromancer, and I included those same images separated in a PSD if you'd like to see each step more plainly.
Thank you for all your support!
Dave
