Hey!
Hope you're well! So, I wanted to share where I'm at with the Persona 5 piece as well as what I've done to the Bloodborne piece. I spent a good amount of time staring at the Bloodborne piece really feeling like it wasn't up to par with what I know I'm capable of, I couldn't shake the feeling that it just wasn't going to end up looking good. I started on the Persona piece because I needed to take a short break to really think about it - the Living Failures & Maria were feeling like they were on the right track, but Laurence and the Orphan of Kos were feeling way too rushed for my liking. The overall take away I had after letting it rest a bit was that my initial intent on rendering things from a softer/more realistic perspective just wasn't going to look very good as a poster. So, as you can see from the pictures, I've decided to redo them - this didn't take too long once I knew what I wanted to do, but sometimes finding the right style(especially for something like Bloodborne that is a super detail oriented game) can take a minute.
I think where I took the Orphan of Kos and what I was able to do with the rendering on his body is way more in line with what I saw in my head for this one. It's actually feeling less daunting now - I knew things were going off the rails because I was beginning to feel dread about working on it but I just couldn't figure out how I should have approached it. Conversely, I feel that what I've done with Ann was the right move start to finish, I think that style and approach suits my work flow and it's what made me go back(as well as the recent job I did) and redo a chunk of the piece. The only thing I'll be keeping is the rendering on Laurence's face, I think that still looks pretty good, but now the Orphan of Kos finally makes sense sitting next to the Living Failures and Maria.
Anyway, thank you for humoring me on all of this, I try not to hit snags or stumble very often, but I tried something new with the Bloodborne soft render look and it just didn't work. So, here's to actually making it all come together properly and my apologies for my slow posts with this one, it's been just a bit harder for me to get right until now!
Thanks again, I appreciate everything you all do for me through this Patreon, have a good day/night!
