Snowman + Alien concept // layered PSD's + process video(no commentary) + brushes

Watch the Snowman video process here! - this video is real time, nothing sped up, runs for 2 hours w/Dark Souls 3 ost

Hey!

Hope you're well! Here's two new concepts, I did these with a focus on trying new techniques. Both use the brushes I attached to this post, I sketched everything in with the chalk brush, smoothed things out with the blender(both chalk brush and blender I purchased from Jens Claessens - you may already have these, I just couldn't find mine!), added colors using the hard round brush and painted over top of everything with the oil blender. I have to say, this approach has been my favorite so far, it's just an evolution of the previous one I talked about on the Bloodborne post - you need the newer Photoshop versions to take advantage of the oil blender, but it works incredibly well.

If you watch the video, the video will end before I start using the oil blender - this is only because I wasn't sure if I'd like the brush but I found out I loved it, so, I'll do a follow up video about the process including that brush.

Feel free to look through the attached PSD's - all the layers are intact and separated on both so you can see how my process goes.

Thanks as always for your support, I'm gonna see if I can use this oil blender to knock out the Bloodborne piece!

Dave

Thank you man, I’ll try to play a bit with that. I hope he sees the question anyway! Thanks bro!

I could be wrong, but in a few past videos he's mentioned that he's messed around with the flow settings and also altered his stylus sensitivity.

Hey Dave! I am new to the patreon and watched a couple videos and wanted to ask, what type of modifications did you make to the Kyle Pencil Brush? I just love how yours work and I can’t get it right. Thanks for sharing your work!

Roberto Jiron

I don't know who the Snowman is but he looks like he could have been Zordon in his prime,

Craig Herbert

Yeah, I've made some calls, I'm pretty sure 3000px+ is the correct size for PSDs in 2021. It's official. Please, act in accordance with the law next time. :D

I'm just kidding, I only do that so the files aren't massive

David Rapoza

Do you know the current 2021 size?

These look so cool. Great work! It's been interesting to watch you experiment with new techniques. Some artists don't push themselves after they've found a process that works. I'm looking forward to your follow up video with the oil blender!

I hope your mentally ok since your uncle died. Do you feel like it has affected your work, whether ability to draw or productivity?
