We begin a dark sci-fi series. One where the allies LOST WWII. The US was split between the main Axis powers of Japan taking possession over everything west of the Rocky Mountains and Germany taking possession of everything east of the Rockies. This leaves the Rockies themselves as a no-man's land. Where lawless law (bullies reign supreme) run the territory the way they see fit. It is this very buffer zone that our protagonist, Jules, finds herself after falling into a mysterious film (given to her by her kid sister who she hasn't seen for quite some time) before her sister meets a horrific end. She takes this film back to her home and runs it through the home projector and witnesses OUR success in the war, and completely upends her understanding of the world around her in ways that she will never recover from.
And that's where Albert's journey begins. For those who aren't aware - Albert is a queer sci-fi writer. So Baz was eager to get this in front of him so he could comment on a different sci-fi story that isn't set in our future, but in our past. Albeit, a very, VERY different one.

Joe Blake, a resistance fighter, leaves German New York with cargo for neutral Colorado. In Japanese San Francisco, Juliana Crane receives footage of the Allies winning the war and a bus ticket to Colorado from her sister. There, she meets Joe. Joe reveals a dark secret.
